Yep it sure is - even the drivers lost 3kg

Bonnet & Doors stll to attack with the angle grinder yet

Also the windows & bootlid lightening has helped lower the centre of gravity - as it was high up weight.

Ledster - yeah we are moving the battery into the rear of the car to help with the front/rear ballance - Have also got the new larger twin blade rear spoiler - and another couple of aero tweeks

Yet another 10 hour day

First job was to fill the void around the rear window with expanding foam
Image

Then onto lightening the bonnet
First off - cut out the o.e bracing
Image

Then afix new aluminium bracing bars & fibreglass to -tape fixed to underside to get the curve of the bonnet
Image

Cut out the bonnet skin itself in preperation for carbon fibre panelling
Image

one carbon skinned bonnet with vents (still waiting on 2 x vents from screwfix :wall: )
Image

Bonnet removed 10.5kg of weight :D

Finally a randomnegative camber shot of the front wheels

watching with interest Stu........

Almost like watching in the future after deciding to turn my 9-5 into a track weapon....

...............Except of course your ain't a 9-5....and I have yet to make that choice as you have.

Be interesting to see what you get it down to eventually (and it's bhp/ton), and what elements of lightening you can provide feedback on re being more bother than the gain.

Also - have you already taken the decision no passenger seat is going back in?
Just checking for future events

No the Passenger seat is sat here waiting to go in - its a new lightweight fixed back one, rather than the previous recliner type. Got loads of people who wanna passenger ride in it

Image

Will try & get it on a weighbridge at some point as unsure what the original weight was & not all the stuff removed was weighed over the years so it is a bit of an unknown at the moment.

Can tell its getting lighter though as its very easy to push around the garage now   But the weight loss is now getting harder & harder to find in any decent quantity & decent amount of time to remove anyway.

Well - some more weight going back in for a change

Have got more rollcage CDS tubing on order to make X - door bars & a X in the rear diagonal stay. This will all be done allong with extending the cage through the firewall to the front suspension turrets.

View from the front of the car - spoiler now inline with the roof / airflow

Cars in at the fabricators today - made a start on the new suspension mods & rollcage mods.

Should lower the car another -30mm

Also will widen the track a bit :park:

And another couple of secret little tweeks

Rollcage converting the door bars to X brace ones from the single diagonals it has at the moment & bracing through the firewall to the front suspension turrets & a new strutbrace.

Another v. long day yesterday :wall:

Rear suspension/beam strengthened & modified - also 30mm lower :)

Image

And heres a ride height shot from the front - note that the front subframe brace sits lower than the front spoiler/bumper :park:
Image

An extra engine mount/brace has also been added to prevent the engine rocking on its mounts

And a couple of braces to the rear wing.

Cars now with Wessy to fit the replacement abbotts flywheel & for suspension setting up/alignment.

OOoopps not updated this for a while have I

New Abbotts flywheel fitted by Wessy.

We have fitted horizontal braces to the rear spoiler from the roof mounts that where welded onto the roof.

Another 6kg lost in interior bits mainly the housing for the o.e passenger airbag & its supports/framework.

New cooling fans wired up.

Few bits of bodywork needed tidying & the extra steel that was welded in on the rollcage etc has been given a lick of paint.

Oil & filter change & new plugs and where all set for the Donny trackday next w.end.

More little jobs today - carbon fibre ducting in the front bumper to the Intercooler 8)

Painted the steel / rollcage up & a bit of bodywork.

Then we found a tiny leak in the radiator F :argh: K - so the fronts all had to come off again - luckily Salvo are 1/2 mile down the road from me so guess I'm paying them a visit on Monday.

Car also hoovered out of all the grinding dust & particles - chubby everywhere.
