All,

So, for the past five odd months I have driving this Saab 9-3 OG Aero, and I've been loving it! I bought the car earlier this year off ebay from a guy down in Luton! The car had only done 83k miles and it was apparent after looking over it and at the service book that everyone had looked after it, it had the steering rack clamp fitted earlier on its life, breather tube was fitted and the guy who I bought it off had replaced all the lines. A new boot floor from wood, specially made boot carpet and sub woofer had been fitted in the back sometime in its life which also good to see!

The First thing I did after buying it was getting it booked in with the local Saab specialist (TK Autos), to give it a check over, including dropping the sump and service. Apart from the odd few things it was fine, bulkhead hadn't cracked and there was hardly any rust which I was quite relieved about!

Since then, I haven’t done anything with the car except keeping it clean and basically just looking after it! I've currently covered 3k miles in it which have consisted of two road trips and driving to work and back. Looking forward I do plan on fitting the 6 point sub frame brace to stiffen it up as I learn last weekend at the Burrs Park Show off a guy called Tom who was also showing his 9-3….. with a list of extra bits!

I’m also planning out a little repair to the front bumper fixing points in the wheel arches as the bumper seems to of drooped. Also, the rear bumper needs a respray as the previous owner had ‘an argument with a bollard’. I would also like to get the underneath cleaned and properly sealed (Just need to find somewhere or someway to do it!)

Thanks for reading!

The rust checking I would do annually. Look forward to updates on it.

So Its been a while since I did my first post on the car, since then I have been tackling a few jobs.

First of which was re-affixing part of one of the 'Aero' logo's which had come off whilst the car was getting a clean.

I carried out this by using the opposite side to make some marks, using masking tape, against of centre of points of letters or where a letter began or ended.

Image

I then removed the tape and re-applied to the side against the existing letters, this gave me a 'near as dammit' idea of where the missing letters went, which were the 'r' and 'o'. Prior to carrying out any work I gave the letters and surfaces a clean.

Image

I then applied 3M's plastic emblem and trim adhesive to the back of the letters. I made sure I didn't use a lot of this as I didn't want the adhesive to be seen surrounding the letters.

Image

Once I had glued the letters in place, I used some masking tape to hold them in place whilst the glue hardened.

And here is the finished job! I hope this helps!
