I picked one of those up as well, but I went for the 9mm rather than 12mm.

Just spent Sunday afternoon cleaning up the engine bay of my 99.. I’d like to give the engine block a lick of paint... Does anyone know what the blue/green colour used on the GL is? and where I can get my hands on some?

Think the white lines give the back more character... Saab seemed to take all the nice details off the later 99’s.

Used one of these.. cost about £3 off eBay. Worked perfectly and gives a really neat factory look line.

Looking good and it particularly suits a white 99.

I did the same on a previous 99 I owned, I also did the same on the centre of the front indicator lenses.

Thanks for the comments! I've wanted a 99 for a long time and I’m thoroughly enjoying making my car just how I want it.. As it's starting to look more and more like a turbo I may have to stick a 16v turbo engine in at some point. Not sure it's the way to go with such an original and well preserved example though.

Thanks

Hi, I managed to get mine from Martin at Jam Saab.. It’s a fibreglass reproduction but seemed very good quality and you wouldn’t know It’s a copy when fitted. The only downside was I had to fabricate my own fittings.

Hi, just a bit of an update on what I’ve done to my 99 in the last couple of months.. After acquiring and restoring a very nice centre console for the car a while back, I decided to smarten up the rest of the interior by replacing the very wrinkly and peeling plastic wood that goes across the bottom of the 99’s dashboard..

Didn’t quite realise what was involved in getting at the plastic parts that hold the wood viny strip! Basically taking half the dashboard apart!

I also replaced the speakers in the doors with a pair of new old stock Clarion’s that I thought were more in keeping..
