V40,HAS BEEN CAUSING ME 'ISSUES'.....

WIRED ALL THE FOG LIGHTS AND SPOTLIGHTS IN,RUNNING THROUGH 'RELAYS' NATURALLY...

BUT,ALTHOUGH EVERYTHING WORKS FINE? THE SPOTLIGHTS COME ON,WHEN THE HEADLAMP POSITION SWITCH,IS ON 'SIDELAMPS'

AFTER MESSING ABOUT,FOR SEVERAL NIGHTS,TRYING TO BY-PASS EVERYTHING,AND TREBLE CHECKING ALL ME WIRING...?

IT OCCURRED TO ME,THAT MAYBE 'VOLVO' HAD DECIDED TO SWITCH THE 'HEADLAMPS' VIA 'EARTH' :wall:

AN ASSOCIATE OF MINE,WHOM IS RATHER GOOD IN THIS AVENUE  ,INDEED CONFIRMED THIS!! AND FOUND THE ORIGINAL WIRING DIAGRAMS...

SO TODAY,WE WILL TRY RE-JIGGLING THE WIRING TO SUIT.... ?

IN THE MEANTIME,THE 'C900 LPT' NEEDS A WASH!!

NEED THE V40 ON THE ROAD FOR 1ST NOVEMBER :haynes:

THEN I CAN GET ON WITH 'ENGINE' BUILDING....

the big problem with putting a 2_3 crank into a 2_0 og900 block is the connector rods hitting the bottom of the cylinders. that's with standard Saab parts. you may find if you go for non-standard rods (sacrilege) or different positioning of the gaugeon pins (lower) and different rods that you'll get something to fit. lots of research required or you'll waste a lot of money going for parts that don't fit. maybe something could be *honed* out the bottom of the cylinders so the original rods will clear but if it not work out then block is scrap. gearbox fits no problem with loads of clearance. something has to be removed from end balance web of 2_3 crank for it to sit in the og900 block.

GOOD MORNING er1c.... THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN...

THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED THROUGHOUT THIS 'THREAD' IN GREAT DETAIL.

''CANNOT'' IS NOT A WORD,IN MY VOCABULARY.....

THE 'SAAB' PARTS BIN,WILL PROVIDE ALMOST EVERYTHING,I NEED.....

THE BORES WILL NOT NEED MACHINING,THE 2.3 CRANKSHAFT WILL,HAVE THE WEBS REDUCED IN SIZE &RE-BALANCED,AS TO SWING,IN THE BLOCK.
THE N/A OG900 2.1 ENGINE WILL SUPPLY SOME PARTS.....

IT 'WILL' GET DONE......BY, WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY.....

I DON'T 'WASTE' MONEY  OR TIME.....

HERE IS A LINK TO ANOTHER 'PROJECT' OF INTEREST.
http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/UKS/viewtopic. ... 5&t=200474

THESE 3 CARS,ARE PROBABLY THE MOST 3 MODIFIED SAAB 99,IN THE UK,IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE UPGRADE......AND MOTORSPORT, BUILT BY 3 DIFFERENT GENERATIONS OF EXPERIENCED 'MECHANICAL ENGINEERS'.....ALTHOUGH I AM AWARE,OF AT LEAST 'ONE' MORE :corn:

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT....

CLARION 99 TURBO 180 BHP 201LB/FT TORQUE

2.1 ENGINED WATER INJECTED 99 TURBO(FIGURES UNDISCLOSED)

'TURBO KILLER' PHASE 1 175BHP 150FT/LB TORQUE

WE ARE ALWAYS WILLING TO LEARN....

MAYBE, YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD,FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE......?

The stroke is longer. To make this the throw on the crnak is longer or bigger diameter ow whataver you call it. if u use the connecting rods from 2_3 longstroke block with 2_3 longstroke crank the connecting rods will move closer to the bottom openings of the cylinders on each rotation of the crankshaft. all is I'm saying. wit standard 2_3 parts there will be contact. all I'm saying. I didn't say "cannot". what parts you end up using for rods and pistons will be the interesting development.
