I've heard of places that do re-coating of brake pads and shoes for historic vehicles. Might be pricey, but they'd probably be able to do the shoes on the 006.

Most of the running gear is USA ride on lawn mower stock (Comet industries, Richmond Indiana). I'm hoping that these are off the shelf..we have a large mower specialist in town so I will drop in to see what the options are.

The vinyl "dye" arrived and 1st impressions are that it's not going to work. After 5 hrs drying it still scratches off with little effort (test area) It says to leave it overnight to dry buy i'm not holding my breath.

How is the 006 project going? Was the vinyle dye successful?

The vinyl dye didn't work. It peeled off in sheets so I contacted the seller and he said "we wouldn't use it then"...which isn't what he said when I asked if it would work on polypropelene.
The 006 is back together but the engine won't rev properly...i'm going to take it to the local mower shop so they can have a look. I think I messed up the carb butterfly balance spring when I made a new accelerator linkage.
I have started a group for 006 owners on FaceBook.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/296164294089552/ to try and locate parts and info on these.
