Good job the 9-5 will only have to cope with 150bhp....
But agree, especially considering the miles I do each week (800 average), will need some decent rubber on there asap.

Checked the current MOT, runs out in October 2016.
Not 100% sure what some of these advisories mean though:

Advisory notice item(s)
rear exhaust silenser box slightly deteriorated I imagine this means the exterior shell? When I look under it seemed fine to me!
nearside front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
offside front Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
nearside rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)
offside rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)
Parking brake lever has little reserve travel (3.1.6b) What does this mean?!

Has done 120 miles since the MOT in October 2015, so has clearly sat in the dealers forecourt for a while, hence me bartering them right down!

Have it a proper clean today (had to do the wife's A1 first though.....) and got rid of the crud the garage "valet" had left behind.

Been to Bristol and back, runs really well. Still getting used to five gears though.
Only issue I can find is the drone from the rear, thought it was wheel bearings, but changes over differing surfaces at speed, so reckon it is the cheapo Chinese tyres all round!

Lovely car. Makes me want to get back into another Saab. Always regretted selling my 9-3 to one of my friends about 18 months ago - he wrecked the engine within a year and scrapped it.

On my 11th Saab now.......I may have the bug!
Am really pleased with the 9-5 so far. Have done 400 miles since Saturday, and apart from the drone of awful cheap Chinese tyres the cat is great.
A four wheel alignment (am thinking the rears are scalloped already) and a new decent set of tyres should sort this out.

They are relative peanuts, get one bought :D
And how the hell did he wreck the engine (assuming its petrol).

Wait, no,, dont answer, I dont want to know.

Saw a chav in the supermarket car park, skidded around the corners, badges missing, smoked when he put the foot down (being nosey saw it was a petrol), scratches and dents galore AND he had a kid in the back as he nearly hit the bollard swinging into the kids bay 2 up from me.
I was MORTIFIED. Poor kid has to be seen in a wreck like that and it was a 2006 when mins a 2004.

Hi, its been a long time since I've posted on here.....! Apologies.
Jobs and kids and more jobs and general stress in life...

Since buying the 9-5 in March 16 I've clocked up 20K exactly. No dramas at all to report, I'm glad to say!

Had the local garage (decent team that I've used before, not Saab specialists at all, but know about cars and never mess me about) do a full service a while back, also replaced a split inner CV boot on the drivers side.
Had it MOT'd in October and the old girl did me proud, not some much as a problem! Shows how different MOT stations look at different things, this had the same advisory as to the hand brake at its upper reach, but nothing about a corroded exhaust, and its the same one.

I've ordered some parking sensors, hopefully fit at the weekend, 10 and a half months of getting the error message is beginning to get on my nerves a wee bit now....
Still havne't sorted the rear suspension, so the Triangle tyres on the rear are well and truly scalloped. I just turn the stereo up..... Needs some new fronts in a thousand miles or so, at this point I may be pushed into doing the bushes and ditching the hideous tyres. Maybe.
Radio signal still occasionally drops off (FM only) when the rear screen is on, I've replaced the filter on the screen, but no use. Maybe a duff element in the screen itself.
Getting close to needing a cambelt and pump soon, last done at 54K I recall. Car is on 87K now.

The seats are still uber comfy, the heaters on the leather are excellent. It pulls well in all gears. Stereo is decent. Looks god in my eyes. And I can get three rubble bags (the ones that a tonne of gravel gets delivered in) full of garden waste in the car!

Happy in my old Saab. I think I've hit a mid life comfort zone..........

Oh, and nearly forgot, the coolant level warning pops up once in a while. When I check the reservoir, it is just fractionally below the line. I traced the leak down to one of the pipes connected to the thermostat. There is a slight pink stain around the area, colour of the coolant. As this isn't causing too much of a problem I am keeping an eye on it for the time being. Certainly not getting any worse as time goes by.......(famous last words....).

Sorted the parking sensors today. Bought two non Saab ones, £12 each.
Rear bumper was fun removing....
A tip for those needing to do this job, when J listened to them, none of the sensors were making the clicking noise.
After removing the bumper and cleaning the connector situated on the bumper bar, there were still no clicking noises.
I changed the first sensor, the one next to the connector, and then all the other sensors worked! So it seems that the first one and then subsequent ones at right bulbs on a Xmas tree.....the ones in line after the duff one won't work. Must be a circuit issue.

So, working sensors! Marvellous.

Added some injector and fuel line cleaner over the past two tanks, and the engine is feeling as good as it has, well, for a four pot derv!
Reset the computer on Sunday after filling up and checking the tyres. Used the car for commuting, mostly motorway and dual carriageway, but some bad traffic on the M6 and M5. Still a decent mpg for the big old girl.

That is a a not unreasonable effort from that lump.

I have to sort my sensors as they didn't work when I bought the car (in fairness almost nothing did!) and then worked briefly before stopping.

I was advised by an auto electrician mate to dig down, find the plug and give it a good clean and that might sort the problem.

That's a fair shout regarding the park sensors. Stupid location for the connector on the left of the bumper, was covered in muck when I took mine apart.

Adjusted the handbrake at the weekend, after two MOT advisories.... Didn't realise it was so easy. Clever access in the central storage bin. Thank you Mr Saab designer.

When I bought my first 9-5, it came with cheapo tyres, and the rears scalloped and would thump away on corners. The replacement sets of tyres, Barums & RS3's did not scallop at all, although I did rotate them - which might of helped.
