Amazing what difference a clean up, new bonnet and set of nice wheels can make to a car.

Looks really really nice. I'd love to run one of these as a daily if I worked locally. Miss retro motoring.

Thanks follow for the positive comments guys :)

Well, first few days are positive! She took it to college last night and went fast on the way home. And this morning had the roof off again - she's loving it.. :P

Looking very tidy, well done.

I wish I could find a £10 bonnet in the right colour :D

Crikey, haven't updated this thread since May!

Well, Sniezka has performed perfectly in her first 6 months of daily use including a weekly trip round the m25 into London. Marta has loved having her and is sad to put her away for the winter.

Image

Before I put her away for winter she had a good clean and a polish. I also gave the convertible roof a good going over with Autoglyms hood clean and seal kit which worked wonders.

As a final small preparation I also flushed and replaced the coolant to help over the cold nights on the farm.

Image

Future plans for the end of the winter period are:
Refurbish the 16" cross spokes with a proper polished lip. Refit with correct tyres.
Send to a bodyshop for a few small patches of rust/ imperfections to be seen to.
Whilst at the bodyshop will hopefully fit an Aero kit
New brakes all round
Some new headlight reflectors from Saabits.

And here is the winter runner that will be taking up daily duties for the next 6 months:

Image

It's enormous fun to drive anywhere but the motorway. :)

That's not a real Puma, the arches don't appear to have rusted through :D we had two Thunders and absolutely loved them, brilliant cars apart from the aforementioned rust issues. Miss them a lot.

Why not run the Saab over winter and store the Puma?

Go on, you know you want to... :D

Only big dilemma is.........which winter tyres to fit.

Hah! The arches aren't perfect but they're pretty good. Been really impressed with it so far and it's certainly cheaper than the 900s fuel costs.
The car itself though is a huge amount of car for very little money. And it's great fun too! (Around town)

The Saabs would make great winter cars but sadly they are both at an age whereby rust is always around the corner and I try to keep them away from all that nasty salt. That's where the sacrificial Puma comes in.

I am running a 9000 Aero on Vredestein winter tyres though! ;) So there's still some Saab love showing. 8)

Well, the convertible is still in storage. Away from all the nasty winter grime.

However a rather expensive/exciting bit of retro plastic arrived for it today...

Can't wait to put it on. 8)

Lovely machine. I do like the cross spokes. They reallly set it off nicely. I'm just thinking is this on Retro Rides as well?

Hello there :)

Thanks for that. Those cross spokes will be re done this year so they'll be even more shiney too!

Yes. I did mention it over on RetroRides but I've not done a full thread.

So, 6 months in storage is now up.

Sniezka started almost first time; a slightly sticky starter motor was the only hiccup. Really very pleased with that.

This weekend was spent giving her a good clean and fitting the refurbed cross spokes.

Also fitted the decor panel

And tinted the rear lights to match

Looking even better. Normally I'm not a fan of white cars but that looks fantastic.

So. Sniezka suffered her first break down the other day. Typically on the day that she goes into London.

On coming back to the car at the end of the day Marta reported no clutch and a puddle under the car. Friendly breakdown guy turned up, clutch bled and filled, car on way home.

Next day, clutch was pretty much gone again so off she went for a new slave cylinder.

Other than that not much to report. Mainly cosmetic things most recently. Paint, gear knob, badges, chrome strips, more cleaning etc.

Here she was at Classics on the Common yesterday:
