Been a while but done a few job on the car (mostly bodywork correction. She's looking nice and clean at the moment. Saving for the CG clutch/flywheel and a quaife LSD at the moment so anything else big is on hold.

Decided to vinyl the trim on the passenger side dashboard as it was suffering from rubberised coating peel.
Before and after below. I filed down the "airbag" text before wrapping so it's nice and smooth. I used quite thick vinyl so couldn't do the button as well (takes up too much space so it jams).

The finish is OK, but over time I think it'll delaminate so will expect to paint it in the next year or two.

A few jobs jobbed over the last few months.

Installed my old Sony M2 and loaded with Navigator and Torque pro. It's on a sliding rail which I custom made from and old drawer slide and price of angle. I araldited it first then drilled and bolted the case to the angle and the slide to the cubby - it doesn't fall off and the slide allows you to remove the phone easily and quickly.
It's wired in to charge and also wired to the aux in in the arm rest storage.

Also got some pressed plates and number plate surrounds. Freshens up the look considerably.

Which did you go for? After a clutch a downpipe is next on the list for mine.

I've gone for the Friedrich motorsport unit available from German vendors on eBay for about 350 delivered. Ime getting my own 100 cell cat welded in as the Friedrich setup with cat uses a 200 cell unit and I'd like a bit more growl whilst not losing any parts of the stock system post-cat.

I didn't bother with anything this side of the pond as they are too costly, only the precat section or unreliable in fitment.

JZW recommends using a high flow cat.

Does the 2nd part ( where the main cat is) go straight in to the stock system then?

I had a look on eBay and the £350 looks good value for the pre cat decat and the decatted 2nd pipe. Just wondering if it's tapered off to fit stock or if you need to fit a reducer?

Cheers P

Pass on that. I'm expecting to have to use a reducer but until it arrives and I measure up, I won't know for sure - but will report back.

I'm waiting for it to arrive before I choose which cat to buy. It's gonna be exciting!

Downpipe arrived!
Sweet bit of kit. Photos here - all the bosses are welded on already which is fab and I have 8" spare for a cat so that's next on the list. Have decided to go the route of 200 cell potentially to keep MOT man happy.

Paolo, got some images here - the answer is yes - they provide all the kit required to mount the downpipe which makes my life pretty easy!

Looks very nice!
This is the one sold to fit the signum and vectra right?

The lambda sensor at the rear of the 2nd pipe?

I'm happy with it for sure. This is the one I went with and made a cheeky offer.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322166004788

I've bought a cat separately (went with 200cell in the end) and will get it welded in. The system with the cat was around £630. I can get a 200 cell cat supplied and welded in for a total of about £120 leaving me a few hundred spare.

Been a busy day on Thursday at a local Motorsport specialist in Oxted. By the end of the afternoon the old exhaust was out...

And the replacement 3" system runs all the way to the centre silencer (which is now on the list for replacement as it's looking a bit sad).

Feedback is that the shape, quality (especially of the reducer) and fit seems good but longer studs on the back of the turbo are required to facilitate the thicker flange and still make use of the metal section of the lock nut. Additionally, one of the studs on the back of the turbo snapped so that made things interesting for the mech. Be prepared for that.
All sorted now. It was in the right hands. A reminder of why I didn't take this job on!

Nice for the back of the turbo to see the light of day for the first time since it left the factory. Replacement stud visible.

Image

Hoping to pick it up tomorrow!

You're right but I'm concerned it'll get a bit too loud! I think I'll always run a centre box but I'll replace with stainless at some stage in the near future.

Might install cutouts. Depends how much this pops and bangs :D

Pipes are in and the car back on the ground. 30 miles on it. Absolutely the best sound change so far. Not too different from stock inside the car, but outside the note is much more aggressive. Under load the exhaust note is much raspier with the unique V6 burble shining through. On rev drop, there is a a nice bit of crackle which is nice to have!
Happy days! Now just waiting on the stage 3+ map from JZW.

Little sound clip here of the new set up.

thanks Car55. I'm very pleased with it. It's quite subtle until the car is under load or WOT.
Taken it to work today, and the car remains as drivable as it was before. No droning or vibrations.
Certainly turns heads!
