So I've been here a while and thought I'd put up a thread showing the progress of my 9k Aero.
I've owned it for about 2 years after getting it from UKS member hooked_on_boost (Pete). It had a dead engine when I got it and my previous Amthyst aero had a very rotten bottom so the inevitable happened and I reshelled it into the black one I have now. It was already fully polybushed with a Jamsaab short shift, carbon dash and stack gauges among other things.
It's currently got a TD04-18T hybrid and a Jules remap.

I pulled it off the road a few weeks ago to deal with the windscreen surround which was showing signs of being rotten and had the screen removed to show this  :

Back in March I went halves on a 'scrap' 1995 9000 CSE from which I wanted the engine and gearbox but also it had a perfect screen surround and scuttle panel which I figured I could carefully remove and use as a repair panel for mine. Unfortunately some time between March and getting to it someone decided they would like the screen surround and it looks like they tried to lever it out, cracking the windscreen in the process so I have claimed on my insurance for a new one - they were actually very good about removing the screen in one visit and will refit when I have completed the repairs at no extra charge :D
So, the 'repair panel' was duly removed from the white car, horrible job involving cutting the 'screen with an angle grinder. Here's how it looked after removal.

Looks to be in good order for your project good luck with the install.that corrosion seems to be a common issue with the 9000?
i would love one but no garage means until that changes it aint gonna happen.

It seems to be more and more common, allegedly from poor windscreen fitting procedure but I'm not so sure.
The rest of it is very good and I've put too much effort into it to give up!

After removing the 'repair panel' I decided I could do a much better job with better access and also do a few other jobs I've been putting off by taking the engine and box out - so out they came, along with headlights, bonnet, grill , radiator, driveshafts etc. Heres how it looked:

Anyway I digress. After i had some room to work I started drilling out spot welds and cutting the rusty panel from the car.

And after a nerve wracking few hours removed all the rusty bits:

Have you decided on the screen rubber surround yet?
Generic windscreen fitter stuff or expensive Rejel one?

Didn't realise you were going that far with it, looking good though. Had no idea you had a Jamsaab short shift either, that's fairly high up in my list of 'to haves'

Am I going to have to get myself a short shift just to have a go rather than waitng for you to finish yours?
