Nismo was on the cards (still is if I get my way) but nothing local within budget, there's a black Nismo RS a couple miles away but it's £17.5k

Seen a couple nice white ones around £11/12k but they're miles away :(

Lol!!! She'd kill me!!

Had a chat about it last night, we'll go for this Juke now and in a few years (if we like the Juke) go for a 3 yo Nismo RS. Also really like the new Quashqai but engine choices are pants, wish they did a hot version.

Could be the end of my SAAB days :(

Sorry to hear about this Dave. As you maybe remember, my Saab also blew up on April. The connecting rods are the weakest link in the engine and one of mine snapped and came through the engine block. That caused 2 pistons to shatter in pieces, 1 other bent connecting rod, 1 damaged combustion chamber on both heads and 22 bent valves from 24.

The engine failure happened when I was casually accelerating from an intersection to 80 kmh. At around 50-60 kmh, lots of metallic noises and engine stopped. I didn't get any engine light or fault codes in the ECU memory. It was just dead. Next day after being towed to nearest Saab service, I went under the car and show a conrod sticking out the block.

At the moment my status is that I bought 105 000 km driven heads and engine block from Germany. Engine block is honed and heads are at the moment being ported and machined. New camshafts are coming from Australia. New conrods are coming from Sweden and a custom order for pistons went out to CP Carrillo last week. Also received LS2 coil kit for better ignition. Exhaust shop is waiting for the complete engine to make new exhaust manifolds. I am still thinking about what turbo to buy. Some say to go Garrett GT30 series and some say BorgWarners EFR series.

As it seems, I went the balls deep route after this catastrophic failure :D.

One thing I am still debating is to stay with JZW's tunes or change to someone else. I called JZW last week and his capable to do the tune in 2-3 months when I reckon getting the car ready again.

Been a while but finally getting things moving!

Low loader ordered for next week and it’s off to SWSS get broken then scrapped. The garage will take all the go faster parts off it and these will be fitted to another v6 Aero. Lots to be removed & refitted.

Tuning wise I’m looking at Aura Tuning, getting a really good rep now.

https://m.facebook.com/auratuninguk/

^^^^ couple monsters on there with similar set ups to mine so should be pretty rapid when it’s done, need to get the 18t checked over but might ditch this and go for one of their turbos instead. Just hope the box/qualife & clutch are ok :bag: Has anyone got an email address for Aura? Im not on FB and the website isn’t active?

I’m after a late pre facelift wagon but with the newer style dash so no fibre optic system! Was a right ball ache to upgrade the audio last time.

End of an era, although it hasn't been moving much the last few years.

Good to see you back.

Incidentally, you are aware that you can't get the later dash without paying the higher tax? Not unless you buy two cars and do an internal loom and dash swap from the later to the earlier.

Hello Dave

Yes mate it’s around double the tax but I don’t mind paying it vs the headache of fitting a decent system. That was a nightmare last time and still didn’t finish the job :wall:

Had a few messages from Nate last night about Aura and what they can do (thanks mate) Definitely looks the way forward.

Just making up a list of what’s to come off, I put a load into that car, loads of bits to come off & swap over

And so it begins!! Gutted but needs doing.

Made a start taking a few bits out of the engine bay today, tomorrow & tuesdays job is stripping the interior and all audio gear out. Carpet was soaking so god knows how much rust is under there!
Getting trailered on Friday to SWSS to get broken then the hunt starts for a replacement.

Best of luck David. Be following it closely in a few places no doubt. Reference the turbo, have a chat with Gordon Ray in the Allsaab whatsapp group as he rebuilds and modifies them.

Look forward to seeing what you get!

Cheers budd :)

I spent a few hours on it over the last couple days, got most off that I could. Still loads to come off though!

Insides a hell of a state, must be 2 inches water in places so I’m glad it’s going now, te carpet was soaked through. I was on the fence about a replacement engine but it’s too far gone, pointless wasting money on it.

I’ll have a good think about turbo’s next year, I don’t think I’ll re use the 18t but will see how the cash flows looking, I’ll probably fit all the handling mods & box first so that’s sorted then to Aura for tuning.

Been eyeing up a few cars but nothing’s jumping out yet, next ones a keeper (hopefully!) so want a nice low miler
