Today the box went on. THIS thread was AMAZING with the hints and guidance and we used the method of the "fat pipe reservoir" and it worked a treat.

Last night, bled the release bearing/slave and put some grease on the splines, a little grease on the inside of the friction disc splines also, and the littlest smear of moly grease on the front of the release bearing surface.

Slightly scuffed the surface of the flywheel with 150 sandpaper, just a tiny little rub over, then cleaned it insanely clean with brake cleaner. Also brake cleaner on the surface of the clutch plate to wipe off any film of grease or general scunge.

Went to bed all excited...

...then got started at around 11am...

...the box went on at around 8pm.

OH MY GOD that SUCKED!

Used the method (as per vid) with two little notched "sliders" made from headless M12 bolts and then wiggled and waggled the box into that tight space then jostled and shuffled it gently onto the driveshaft at the back of the block in sort of a "flapping upwards" motion to simultaneously clear the subframe support in that box section bit whilst aiming the driveshaft into the gap of the oil seal and not let it rip the thing out or touch it.

THEN the UNENDING JOY of my accomplice and I with a 27mm socket on the crank going turny/shove-y/push-y/nope, turny/shove-y/push-y/nope etc trying to get the splines to line up while we stuff the driven shaft into it. Invisibly. With no room.

And then one of the little dowels on the block caught just a hair on the box and just would NOT slip in nicely, despite receiving a scrub off with a scouring pad and a little wipe of moly grease. Eventually went in with a lil pop.

It took us two pizzas, four cakes, two energy drinks and half a pot of coleslaw BUT the box is now on.

And I'm tired lol.

Omg I CANNOT get the NS driveshaft to click in. Seems like it's just about 1cm to go but it absolutely will not.

No way I'm forcing it, think this one needs a night to ponder and some daylight.

Grrr car you can quit this attention seeking.
