Dear All.
I have owned and driven SAAB,s for over 30 years now. My first SAAB was given to me
by a friend who owned a garage. She was a 2.0l 99 4 dr in bottle green, the Reg. no. was
BUT 239K and I got her in 1982/3. My second one was a 2.0l 99 4 door in brown the reg. no.
was HVL 294N. My third one was a 2.0l 99 2 door in cream the Reg. No. was EFW 321T. My
fourth one was 2.0l 99 2 door in white, the Reg.No. was ABW 414Y. My fifth one was a 2.0l
99 4 door gls in green, the Reg No. was ARC 617T. My sixth and present SAAB is 2.0l 2 door
classic 900i 2 door in rose quartz, I bought her from the only and original owner 13 years
ago now, she had FSSH and 60k on the clock when I bought her, in that time I have added
a further 9k, she is a facelift model, the Reg. No. was E665 DTL but she now wears my
private plate A9 VCF. She was supplied new by Reg Morris ( garages ) ltd at Westwoodside
near Doncaster and she has a full SAAB service history with the suppying SAAB dealer upto
60k.
She towbar and twin sockets all wired and working( only fitted to save the rear bumper
from any damage) she also has 3 spoke Ronals and brand new 185/65 x 15" Avon ZV 3,s all
round, brand new chrome grille, hlamp prot, genuine SAAB walnut dash, front fogs, Genuine
SAAB front seat covers, full stainless steel exhaust system. engine block painted powder
blue and the ancillaries in silver, every interior panels have been removed and all the body-
work has been sprayed with chain lubricant, car has been undersealed at least 3 times now.
she has had 4 new injectors, new head gasket etc. new clutch, new radiator etc.
Anyway I think that might do for now, I may add some more tomorrow.
All The Best. :D
Vince.

Dear Espin99.
Thank-you aswell, for your very warm welcome too Espin99
I just loved the shape of the 99,s especially the back ends on the saloons, everyone of
them was a saloon, even my older brother Stephen had a 75 99 saloon E.M.S automatic,
which had an interior to die for. 8)
In 1987, The man himself Alan Mallet,,knocked on my front door asking if I would go and
work as a SAAB technician for him I thought about it, for about a " second "
My 900i is today covered with a couple of duvets and a waterproof cover, in the fairly
new garage that I rent from the counil. it is about 1/3 of a mile away from the house, in a
nice cul-de sac. She was polished and cleaned before going in, so she should still be clean.
She is due for her M.O.T this coming Friday at 1pm. At the moment she is only doing about
100 miles maximum from one M.O.T to the next one. I am going down to the garage tomo-
rrow so I will know how many miles she has done this year :D
I don,t currently have any photo,s of her Espin99 but summer is here, so I will
without question take some, nice pics. It will take me a couple of days to find out how to
download them onto the forum, as my wife Shari has to do these for me :) OK.
All The Best and thank-you again so much :D

Dear All.
Firstly, Thank-you all so very very much indeed for all of the really kind welcomes etc. :D
Secondly, I have managed to get down to the garage today, I was right that she was all
nicely polished with all of her bumpers all nice and shiney too. However I had forgotten to
put the duvets and the car cover over her :wall: So now she will have to be polished again
before she goes in for her M.O.T at lunchtime this Friday.
I also managed to get the mileage whist I was down in the garage. She has only done
121 miles since her last M.O.T in June last year.
Thirdly, because now I will have to get her out of my garage tomorrow and polish her so
that she nice and clean for her M.O.T, and the weather down here at the moment, is usually
" Fine " in the morning and looking like " R**n in the afternoons, this means it will take me a
couple of days to get her polished up. This means I won,t be able to take any photos of her
now until maybe after the M.O.T. I will probably do this at the weekend now.
All The Best.
Vince.

Dear Vince.

Secondly, " GREAT " name too " Vince " :D 8) ( I don,t like being called Vinny :wall: )
Thirdly, I did manage to finish polishing her today, and get her back into the garage before it rained. So she is nice and ready for tomorrows M.O.T.
Lastly Vince I will try and get some photo,s done weather permitting. I will also dig out
my photo album, I do some pics of my old SAABs somewhere, just a case of finding them.
Anyway take care Vince :D
All The Best.

Dear Vince.
Firstly, thank-you so very much Vince for the good luck with the M.O.T  She pa-
ssed with " flying colours ". The CO is 1.80 % and the HCs are 98 ppm. Which means the
engine is still not even " run-in " yet, which I am always pleased about.
Secondly, Vince thanks a million for the " well needed " advice on which section of the
forum to post me pickies on :D This will be really vital to me. We have " Not very good
atmospheric conditions " at the moment Vince, however I did manage to get her back to
the garage before it R****d.
As soon as that big yellow thing in the sky comes out, I will try to take some photo,s.
Lastly Vince, Me too I am not keen on Vin either :| and you take care aswell Vince
and hope to speak again very soon :D
All The Best.

Dear Anjum.
Firstly Anjum, thank-you so much indeed for your really kind welcome too Anjum
Secondly, please accept my apologise for not replying sooner Anjum, I am not the
worlds quickest at typing  and then I have to triple check everything afterwards too.
Thirdly Anjum, I am still a " newbie " to this forum, and it will take me quite a while to
find my way around on here.
Do you have a classic 900 aswell then Anjum :?: If so what year is she and colour,
and how many miles has she done :?: I would be really interested to know :D
Lastly take care Anjum, and I hope to speak again, very soon. Pics as soon as it stops

Dear TFatC.
Firstly thank-you so much for your lovely kind welcome TFC. :D
Secondly, that can be an expenisive month you have coming up. When I lived in Lincoln,
one of my work colleages from the SAAB dealer, he set up on his own. I had the Rapier and
the SAAB mot,d in June at £ 54 each, but I couldn,t really take them anywhere else, he did
fail it once on rear handbrake being out of adjustment and a top ball joint aswell. I used to
just had to bite the bullet :)
I am lucky down here, the place where I take them to be M.O.T,d have always only
charged £ 35. And it is spotless and they are really very friendly people too. They do my
two cars and my youngest daughters Saxo aswell.
My 900i flew through her M.O.T today, the CO was 1.80 % and her HCs are 98 ppm.
so I am a happy bunny again.
And good luck to with your up coming other 3 TFC  take care and hopefully
speak again very soon. :D
All The Best.
Vince.

Dear Mal.
Firstly sorry for my silghtly late reply
Yes I did work for Alan, he is a really nice chap, he has a wicked sense of humour. He
was always really kind to me. I really enjoyed working there and made of lot of really nice
friends aswell. I would have loved to have stayed there but unfortunatly I wasn,t a good
enough mechanic, plus they already had there fair share of mechanics that new alot more
about SAABs than I did. I worked there from about 86/7 to 88/9.
I have some really fantastic memories from the short time I was working there, I rem-
ember them have for sale a lovely W reg bright red 99 Turbo S with the water injection kit
fitted, I did manage to get to road test her, but she was misfiring at the time 8)
I also got to go the SAAB UK at roundspinney roundabout in Northampton aswell which
was really great :D and I also got to meet Mr SAAB himself rally legend Erik Carlsson to, he
has an infectious accent. :)
Anyway Mal I must shoot, take care and thank-you so very much for your kind interest.
All The Best
Vince.

Hi Vince,

86/7 to 88/9 You will have worked with Dave during your time at Mallets then.

I think I know the 99T you are on about it came into the workshop during the short time I was working there towards the end of 89.
If it is the same one that is the car that made me fall in love with 99's. I purchased my first SAAB (a 99GL) a couple of months later from Mallets, I could not afford a 99T that came later :D

Dear Mal.
Firstly please accept my sincere apologies for my really late reply Mal
Secondly I have tried to reply much sooner, but I unfortunatly I yacked on a bit too much, and ended up losing my messages, bieng " timed out " for some strange reason :?
Thirdly, of course I know Dave and his brother Pete an I were College in Lincoln together
they are both really nice friends along with Mick at Feathers in Thorpe. I used to take my
SAAB and my Rapier fastback to them for their M.O.T,s
One day Mr J ask to remove the rear window louvre off from that red turbo S as he did-
nt like it, so I put in on my white 99 I had then ABW 414Y, I think I may still have a photo
of her sat outside my house near Brant Road
I will try to post some pics of my 900 mal when it stops :cen: R*****g
I will try not to yack on so much this time in the hope that I can send this lot without
losing it, as I can,t type that quick these days
Take Care Mal speak agaiin very soon :)
Vince.
