Just a quick post to say hi to everyone.

Not yet got a Saab been toying with the idea for a while but can't decide what to get. No doubt i'll get there. Been running Land Rovers for a few years, so looking for a change.

Had a classic 900 Turbo 16v years ago, always regretted selling it :loco:

Oh yeah better say I am from the North Staffs.

Expect many questions once I get one ....or.... two or.... ahhh quick SWMBO is looking...

Phil

Thanks.

Ermm... 3 mutants I mean teenagers. The boss. Small dog. Work from home so it's Dad's taxi duties and days out mostly.

Was thinking of a 9000 aero but not sure, the key appears to be in the wrong place for a Saab  or a 9-3 or 9-5 and then tune them. Plus not sure on fuel economy how bad are they? I have a budget of around 1k as I need to keep one of my Discoveries for muddy days out and towing the stock car (brothers).

Oh yeah forgot to say I wear size 10 lead boots  and like twisty "A" roads.

Well, if it's low mileage, it must be petrol.

If you like twisties then at £1k I doubt you will find a 9-3 Sports Saloon - new shape from 2003. That has quite good handling.

The 9-5 is better than the old 9-3 "as built". A good 9000 would be fine, but they are getting quite old. The last was made in 1997. I'm not an expert in the 9000, but I believe that at the end of the run some "standard" cars got Aero engines and other stuff, just to use it all up.

A mate of mine has a 93SS Aero. He let me have a go in it a couple of months ago and that is what has sparked my interest in Saab's again. Would love one like his but money is tight around here at the moment.

I was leaning more toward a 9-5 but not too sure what tax rates are on them and mpg. Don't mind work to be done as I have been around cars all my life, not professionally. Got my Discovery sorted now and just sold my Defender so have some space on the drive.

9k aero or similar was interesting as they are in my budget and can be insured as classics now being over 15 years old.

Hello and welcome.

mad9000enthusiast on here has a website of his own called SeriousSAAB and you may find it of interest if you are considering any of the models made since 1992. I recommend a look at the Buyers Guides and the Workshop Procedures pages.

SeriousSAAB can be found here.

HTH.

Welcome indeed! :)

9000 Aero would be the weapon of choice for me, loved mine.

Thanks for the link "Ron57RC" will have a look through there later.

Just seen in the for sale section a 9-5 that looks local so I will probably go take a look at that. Although giving it some thought I may end up with a Diesel probably 93 and a 9k aero as a project.
