Car Model: Saab 9-3
Hi all!

I'm fresh to the world of Saab!

A few weeks ago I purchased a facelift 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sport 1.8t
I have had a company car for the last 5 years - but decided to go for a car allowance when weighing up the options at renewal time (included a fuel card as well thankfully!)
I do around 30k miles per year, so hopefully this car will last me a good while yet!

Really happy with the car so far - there are a few niggles that I want to sort out over the next few weeks - now that I have spent some time getting to know it.

1) The car has the optional sports suspension on - but the garage I bought the car from replaced a snapped spring. It took me a while to realise but I am sure they just used a standard spring, it sits fairly high at the front, and especially on one side.
I have bought a pair of the correct springs for the front, so will be getting around to fitting them over a weekend.
I've fitted a couple of sets of springs in the past on other cars - is there anything "special" I need to know about fitting them to a Saab?

2) The Air Con only blows cold for a few minutes before just blowing up warm air. I got it re-gassed (it didn't work at all previously) and reset the ACC after a search on this forum, but still no luck. I will probably have to take it to an Air Con specialist :(

3) The Aux In port on the radio headunit seems to be loose. When I plug in a device only one speaker works, and it doesn't click in properly. Can the built in one be replaced/repaired or will I have to rewire a new one to the arm-rest or something?

4) REMAP!

Hmmm seems like thats a load of questions - maybe I should have split this post up.

Anyways... Hello!

Welcome to UKS :D

You'd be better off posting for information on fixing issues in the Workshop, not everyone with the tech knowledge visits this section.

Hello!

The front struts come out entirely, which makes for a much easier spring change. Replace top mounts and top mount bearings at the same time as they often go bad and aren't too expensive. Genuine ones are best according to most advice, however I have been running Febi Bilstein items for over a year now with no issues.

There are a few threads and YouTube videos out there. Google search is often better than the forum search facility, just add "site:www.uksaabs.co.uk" after your Google search terms for forum specific results.

If you look at the VIN label on the door sill at the bottom of the middle door pillar - passenger side - there is a row of codes along the bottom.

The first two codes are the front and rear springs - followed by anti-roll bars front and rear, then the struts and dampers. The final four are the brake discs and callipers.

Looks much the same as this one on my 9-5
