Hi

I have always liked Saabs, but never owned one. Various reasons, but mainly was put off by scare stories of enormous parts prices. I have always been on limited budget, always buying old cars nearing end of life but that would be reliable. Having had to retire my trusty old X reg (2000) 2L auto Mondeo Estate Mk2 (7 years mainly trouble free motoring for £600) and struggling to find another Mondeo petrol, auto estate I widend my search and found a bargain priced 9-5 Anniversary Edition on Facebook marketplace. I thought it's now or never if I want one.

There was not a lot detail, just a quite high mileage (176k) and an ABS sensor fault above 70, which resets when restarted.

I did not bank on it being such an utter gem of a car! £1050 in the end. With a full service history mainly from main dealers, done bang on time, near immaculate condition, a sweet running, clean smoke and rattle free engine. All the vast array of toys working. And performance, oh my god.

I have only had it 6 days and am already in love with it. The cabin is such a nice place to be, it's so relaxing and comfortable and I have to remember to suppress a smirk that lurking under the bonnet is a beast that could, if I was so inclined, leave most boy racers peering at my rapidly disappearing tail-lights with their jaws in their laps!

I wish I had owned one sooner.

Well Done! :)

Which bit of Devon?

If you are in the west, then you could get the car looked after by Chris Hamley. http://www.chrishamleysaabspecialist.co.uk

and if you are in the east there is Tommy at TR Autos in Yeovil http://www.tr-autos.co.uk

Both recommended specialists. And for parts there is BillJ a member on here who runs www.saabits.com near Torquay. Look at one of his posts for a discount code in the signature of his posts.

Yep, the guy I bought the car off recommended Chris Hamley, I'm in Plymouth so not too far, just a bit of a trek to get back if the car ever needs leaving!

That's not far! :)

I go 40 miles each way to get my car serviced and I'm in the London area!

I was born and brought up in Plymouth and I know that distances down there are calculated in a different way!! At least there's a bus back. But there might be a courtesy car, I don't know! ;)

Chris has helped me out once or twice when I've needed help during a family visit back down.

Haha, but London is the only place that has a public transport system fit for purpose!

Anyway, all good. Contacted them today and there is a courtesy car available :)

Just been to Chris Hamley in Yelverton to get my ABS fault sorted (warning light comes on over ~60mph and goes out after a re-start)

Went in at 9:30 on a Saturday morning, expecting to take a courtesy car until about Tue/Wed because they close at 1pm, they suggested I popped next door for a coffee or breakfast while they checked it. 40 mins later i go back to see what the diagnostics said, and the whole CV joint and sensor ring has been replaced and he's just about to take for a test drive!

The mechanic also owned Saabs and had the time to have a good chat about the car and set my mind at ease that all was well otherwise.

Excellent service, very friendly and they really know their stuff. Cost about what I knocked the bloke down by when I bought it :)
