ive just got some new gauges and one of them is a water temperature one (to solve the 9k's "nothing to see here" gauge that says its normal even with a blown head)

anyway the problem is thus:
the new item comes with a sender wich has a much smaller thread than the sender for the factory gauge (the one on the end of the block?) so im wondering if its just not compatible or i need to replace a different sender (the gauge is a speedparts one)

also do i wire the new sender to both the gauge AND the car wiring (for the ecu pressumably?)

can i splice into the factory temperature sender and just tap it into the new dial and still get an accurate reading while its connected to both?

otherwise how the hell do you add this thing without killing either the ecu or the dash gauge........

The ECU gets its data from the blue sender in the Inlet Manifold. The one on the side of the head goes through the ECU but the ECU only uses it to drive the dash gauge.

Im sure you can find an adapter type fitment to fit your sender to the side of the head, all you need to know is the thread diameter and pitch of the hole and the sender. At worst somebody could machine you one up.

That all depends on if they give the same output or not? As there is only 1 wire on the standard sensor then it must be a resistance type. Not knowing what guages and senders you have I cant tell you if they are the same type or not.
