Hi all,

Still looking for a car for the old man and one or two single turbo 1.9 TiDs have cropped up. These are of course the 148bhp models so I was wondering what ecu mapping options I have? I know Karl doesn't do diesels at present so any recomendations appreciated. Don't really want to pay Abbott prices...............................

Teapot on the Vectra-C forum does remapping for them, and at quite reasonable prices (actually very reasonable)
Gets good reviews from people.

Edit : Didn't know he was here also

You'll get a safe 190 from teapots.
I'm going to get another ecu and get mine copied, get my swirl flaps deleted and also remapped....

He's coming from a Hirsched 2.0t Vector 9-5 estate that he's had for 12 years. He's now found himself a car. An auto 148 single turbo 9-3 vector wagon. I think he'll want a map.

I was just looking for this information too, as I am selling my 9-5 Aero Stage 3 and buying a 9-5 TiD Vector Sport. The first thing I thought of was "remap". I will seek out Teapot also :-)

Cheers guys
Kiwi

The 1.9 on a standard turbo has lots of low down torque, 300lbft around 2500rpm should be happily achievable. The autos tend to be a bit thirsty because they gear down a lot more than is needed and they are quite sluggish in standard form but when mapped they are very different.

Are any of the reputable tuners North East based or able to travel to the North East?

Ive used these guys in the washington area. Used him on a VAG car and an Alfa with the same 148hp 1.9 JTD in the Saab.

http://automotivedevelopments.co.uk

Anthony is his name if i remember right. Automotive Software Developments. Does a lot of good work.

Hope this helps.

Hi. Is there any problems with remapping? I ask because I had a Vectra a few years ago with the same engine and I had a tuning box out in. It pushed the car to about 206 bhp and I averaged 60mpg over 22,000 miles. Then the dual mass flywheel disintegrated. It’s possible it was on its way out but I was told that it was because of the extra torque going through it so I wondered if anyone had any experiences?

The only problems I have ever has when remapping any car was on a brand new Leon Cupra with the 150TDI PD engine. It had a revo map and when very well but the clutch started slipping after approx 20K. I think Revo maps can be quite aggressive. It's all about the torque and how it's delivered. A custom map will be able to tune the car as you like it.

Poor mapping can destroy lots of things, if you made 206bhp you are lucky the turbo did not explode and the smoke must have been horrific. DMFs will cope with 380lbft for 100,000 miles plus if driven with mechanical sympathy but most people just think they know how to drive and have no actually understanding. Power is irrelevant for the DMF and gearbox, they are rated by torque, the force generated by an engine.

I think my new TTid has been mapped by someone.....

My old one had a light Maptun stg1 map (from 56rkg/h to 660kg/h peak airflow).

This new one has a 720Kg/h peak air flow and no regens..... so I assume DPF has been knocked out. It smokes a bit on full boost and near the tail pipes is sooty.

Any ideas if I can find who or what map it has? I have a mpps v16 so I can dump the ecu to file.

It also doesn't start as well as my other 3 so assume it may have been home tuned?? It sometimes starts the stalls immediately.

Andrew

Can recommend Teapot. He did my 9-5 1.9TiD auto wagon some time ago. Love the way it pulls now. Also had the EGR mapped out. Tried with the swirl valves permanently open as well, but with the auto box, the car felt better when they were left working.

I came across Teapot, and contacted him, via the Vectra C forum (https://www.vectra-c.com/forum/forum.php?), lots of info on there on the 1.9TiD engine as it's also used in the Vectra. He was on this forum as Teapots, but do not know how active he is here.
