I've used the Meguiars one a couple of times on very very light soiling, works pretty well but is much more expensive than this stuff.

Still in the zone where the very thought of doing this still worries me on anything more than a few rain splatters but it does seem to work without causing damage.

I'd like to hear a professional detailer's view on this, as in the blurb on the link they say to use two micro fibre cloths, one to apply the stuff, and one to remove/buff.

Detailing World posts advocate a sheepskin mitt for car washing, as the wool has "depth" to hold the dust/grit off the paintwork, so that you don't scrape it over the paint making swirl marks, and the two bucket method to remove all the grot from the mitt.

Now obviously you use less of this product than you would water anyway, and m/fibre cloths I wouldn't have thought would have the same depth of pile.

So, if I were to use this, or any other waterless stuff, wouldn't I increase the risk of producing the swirlmarks I have worked long and hard to eradicate?

I might add, after every time my car's washed, it's treated to a coat of Megs' Last Touch (sold as Qwik Detailer for retail), using two m/fibre cloths, to bring out the newly polished look.

Malcolm

Personally I would not touch it with a barge pole.

Lets see it work on this.

I've always thought that waterless stuff was ok to use for quick clean ups at shows etc, but not sure I'd use that kind of approach regularly. That being said, mine's filthy at the moment anyway after the sand shower :wall:

Waterless i have tried so far:

Chemical Guys Ecowash RU which is my personal favourite, the only issue is the clay particles within the product will help to strip existing wax.

Meguiars have thier own waterless wash, but speaking to Megs UK and Australia is very much based around Last Touch from them

Dodo Juice have their own waterless wash by using Basic of Blings QD, but also Time To Dry could be used (would be very expensive).

Obviously a lot of care need to be taken, if the car is too dirty then use a conventional method or you will cause damage to the paint work.

There's also the price to consider, it does't come cheap, and in the advert videos they seem to use a lot.

I'm a real fan of Megs Last Touch, I buy it by the US. Gallon, and dilute 1:1 with filtered or de-ionised water, and use it after every wash.

Waterless washes work okay for very light dusting on a garage queen - I would never use it on anything kept outside, or anything with soft paint. That's C900s and 99s.

Wash with lots of water and a sheepskin mitten to minimise swirling. You may not see it for 5, 10, 50, 100 washes, but the cumulative effect is ... a dull car. Wash properly. I've yet to see a waterless/rinseless wash that does the job as stated.
