I'm sure somebody here will know......

I want to get some new number plates for my C900 Carlsson.

At the bottom of the plate, underneath the registration number, people often have their name printed, or car dealers have their name and contact details.

I'd like the word "Carlsson" on mine but an exact copy, scaled down to an appropriate size of course, of the great man's writing, as seen on the C-pillar of the car, like this:

Does anybody know where I can get plates like this?

TIA S

In that case I am sorry but I only know of a place in Bedford, Ant Graphics, who used to make plates, not sure if they still do.

A few years ago they made a Greek number plate for me complete with scanned Greek crest when I had a plate stolen off of my Greek registered car when it was in the UK so your needs should be quite simple for them.

Much like this but without the pink sticker which tells Greek plod when your vehicle road worthiness test is due

It might be worth contacting them, the worst that can happen is they say no.

Thankyou for the tip.

I contacted Ant Graphics by e-mail over the holiday period; they e-mailed me back a couple of days ago.

Their reply stated:

Quote:
Due to current legislation we are unable to make a legal set of number plates using the logo you have provided at the bottom to replace the dealer name and postcode.

The only way to get around the legislation is o make the plate up blank but with the Calson logo at the bottom, then apply the registration digits to the outside of the acrylics. This covers us and means the onus is on you.

Sticking numbers and letters on afterwards would hardly provide the classy, finished look I want, so I need another option.

Any suggestions?

How about a plate holder with the logo on it? You can buy blank holders from ebay and then get a sticker made up for the bit below the plate to show whatever you want.

I did some faux dealer type plate holders. I went for a clear sticker background, you could get any colour you want.

If you have a high quality graphic, ie. sharp and accurate, not pixelated, and a decent inkjet or laser printer, you could print the logo to water slide transfer paper, then put a light coat of aerosol clear sealer over it. Total cost would be less than a tenner. Not sure how long it would last though when exposed to a lot of rain.

No worries! I spend an inordinate amount of time on here at times so it can seem like I reply to everything some days!

Can you get some plates made up in another country ?
I have bought number plates a couple of times on line. But to stop people cloning cars you are supposed to show your v5 when ordering them. But when I googled there was a seller who would make them up as you wished and send them, but the invoice was for an address in Dublin, so not bound by UK law.
Might be worth a google, or somewhere that is willing to make ‘show plates’, so not strictly legal for UK law.....
The ones I had made were legal font, just no bsi markings, so illegal. They have however gone through numerous mot’s without any issue.

Thanks ame2 for your response but I think dandam might be onto something.

I've googled and found this site which, although sporting a ".co.uk" suffix, is based in Ireland.

http://www.platesforcars.co.uk/contact_us.html

I've sent them an e-mail; I'll report back when I know more.
