i've posted in the wanted section, search e**y and can't see the part i need.
basically the trim above the glove compartment has been damaged somehow by the previous owner and done a rubbish repair.....
any ideas what i can do with this? thought about trying to take it off and maybe wrap it with something....and as you can see i'm missing the end of a knob too
thoughts?

Easy repair
Hardest part is removing and re-fitting the trim, that won't be hard either

Simply remove ,rub down the area I'd say 400 then 800 grit wet and dry if you don't have a d.a sander.
A light coat of primer on the repair then colour whole panel with some aerosol trim paint or even a silver aerosol.
Mine are the same and if I ever get round to it I'd do my whole silver trim satin black

You could repair it in situ but the overspray won't be ideal

Looking at your pics again the solvent in the paint used for the repair has crazed the original paint. For this you ideally need to seal the area broken through with a product called "bar coat"
Easy if you are in the trade and have such products to hand but as a diy job may be tricky
Possibly pay a Mobil trim repair firm or replace with a second hand trim

I've scoured ebay and can't see the trim. Is it glued in place do you know? I do know a chips away company, so if I can get it off I'd post it to him.
Is it part of the lock trim?

It is not bonded. It's held on with a few bolts
If you search 9-3 glove box on ebay there is plenty of low spec ones for sale with pictures which show how it's fixed on

Have a word with Neo Brothers to source one if you don't fancy repairing yourself.
