1998 9-5 ACC air con is permanently blowing hot air, have been told by garage that compressor is working OK and fans operating as they should, and repair bill to replace the control box will be too many £100's to fix. Any suggestions from anyone on how to replace

Have you done an ACC recalibration test to if there are any faults in the ACC system?
Has it been re-gassed in the past two or three years?
I doubt its a problem with the control unit (if you are talking about the dash mounted ACC control pannel) more like a broken hot air blend flap inside the heater box itself.

As Johno says I'd still run the self diagnostic test, press and hold OFF and AUTO together. It will run the test and then tell you a number that relates to any faults. If there are none the number will be 0.

Stepping Motor eh? I have a couple of these..It is more likely to be the arm that moves the flap.

They have a habit of coming undone/snapping. There is a good thread on SaabScene. I don't know it that has migrated

over to here yet..Have a look!

And then report back.

To SAABOTAGE
Finally able to buy repair kit from PFS Parts Ltd. (having just retired funds were a bit limited). Yes I did follow thread on SaabScene, a bit fiddley but I managed to fit it. Only problem now is because it took so long to buy and fix the problem the battery is low and will not crank the engine. Talk about fustration but I will get there eventually but I am full of hope for a successful outcome. Can't get on with this retirement at the moment, perhaps I need to set up in business as a repairer for this dreaded fault.
Thanks to everyone for your advice.

Good Lad! I am glad that you have sorted it!!

When Blackuns aircon packed up, there were loads of possible suspects ranging from a few bob to mega bucks to sort out.

Her problem was the motor bushes! And the arm. It had come off!

Thanks for letting us know your cure!

Would it be a 4 month turn around?

No, I reckon I could be a bit quicker next time but thanks for the comment. Doesn't time fly when you are having fun though.
Thanks
