Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Hi all.

Bought the car a year ago. Soon after i began noticing the oil pressure light flashed during cold starts - no problem, I knew about the problem with oil pickup seal and had it changed.

However, the occasional flashes of oil pressure light still remained.

To date, the following has been tried, no success:
  • Oil pickup seal replaced
  • Oil changes, different oils and filters
  • Measurement of oil pressures at 3 different workshops - OK (one of them mentioned that the initial pressure rise during cold start was a bit slow)
  • New oil pressure sensors (2 of them, including 1 original), new oil level sensor
  • Oil pump replacement, another oil pickup seal change

As you might imagine, I'm quite frustrated with this topic already.

Only abnormal thing I notice is a certain squeal at > 2500 rpm or so after a cold start for a hundred meters or so. Afterwards everything is excellent. Someone had similar issue caused by a broken intake manifold bolt - I had the manifold bolts checked, all were fine.
Engine is a bit oily from the outside, but the parking space is clean.

Any other ideas or recommendations?

Thank you in advance!

Hi I am have the same problem with my 2011 ttid after having my oil pump replaced. Im waiting on my mechanic to come back off holidays so I can get the car back to him.
What I have been told is.. if the sump is not cleaned ( oil strainer and pick up pipe ) before been put back it can throw the oil light on.
My mechanic insists that he cleaned mine so I am at a lost.
If I get anywhere with mine I will let you know.
Good luck with yours

The oil pressure seal on the sump is really easy to dislodge when refitting, it's easy if you're willing to drop the subframe enough to offer the sump up square rather than posting it in to the gap above the subframe.
