Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the post subject/thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

My 2006 1.9 tid cabriolet as recently decided not to select 6th gear first time.

Gentle increase speed all gears select OK until changing from 5th to 6th it feels like something just stops the gears lever moving into 6th gear. I have noticed if I press clutch come from 5th to neutral release clutch press clutch it will go into 6th gear

I have checked the selector tower and all is nice and free, with the selector cables removed you can select each gear no problem at all. Install selector cables go for a drive same again all gears ok except 6th!!!

It just feels like there is something stopping the gear lever moving into 6th position :wall:

With the cables removed from the tower the gear leaver feels OK :wall:

Any idea greatly appreciated

Thanks

A common problem, had it myself, it's fixable using a kit you can buy online. Give me a minute and I'll find it.

Did mine a while back, any took about 2hrs took me longer to get the turret out than to install the repair kit.
It was a pain to remove the turret as some hoses were in the way on the tid! But got there in the end
