When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.


Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

Car Model: 9-5
So, to add to me increasing list of woes I also now appear to have something dripping from the flywheel cover plate. I am convinced it is clutch fluid but have only spotted it yesterday so will monitor the level. We are talking a tiny amount though, a spreading wet patch on the bottom of the cover.

A few weeks back I fitted a new clutch and slave cylinder. It all works and if I hold the clutch pedal down with a piece of wood the release bearing (which you can see through the inspection hole) does not back off over a few hours.

The joint with the O-ring at the top is fine, where you bleed the pipe. Shining a light inside I can't see anything dripping. I have an endoscope arriving tomorrow so hopefully that will give me a clue. I can take a look from under, up past the flywheel maybe (?) and also through the inspection hole.

I have done dozens of these on 99's and 900's but this is the first one I have done on a 9-5. Bad luck? Or some sort of schoolboy error?

At least if it has to come out again then the alternator bearings will be a simpler job!!
