Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Hi, I broke the pin on the tonneau cover drive on my wife's car. I drilled it out the old pin and replaced with a bolt. As far as I could tell everything was lined up correctly and the hood will go down and the tonneau cover will lock in place as it should. The problem arises when I try to put the hood up, again it all seems to go OK until it comes to the bit where the bit with the rear window (I think it is called the 6th bow) should latch in place onto the tonneau cover making a nice water tight seal. This does not operate because the latches in the cover have already moved across into the latching position before the slotted pins on the hood have got into the holes on the cover.
Clearly the timing is wrong but I have no idea how to go about resetting it. I have also considered removing the tonneau cover to adjust the mechanism but it is attached to the bodywork of the car with two very strong springs and I am afraid that it would be very difficult to get everything back in place once removed.
Any advice? :loco:
