Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Hi everyone, I've got an issues with my roof, it doesn't go up or down and have traced the fault to the 5th bow micro switch and after some investigations, I've noticed the micro switches are being held in by 2 screws. DO I need the Tech2 for the replacement or do I just replace the micro switch ?

you're cool to just replace the microswitches. They are simple contact breaker style and no tech2 is required.

The 5th mocroswitch is on the LEFT side of the rear (there's not one on the right side). It's next to the hydraulic rams. Best way to find it is to begin lowering the the top. So with the roof CLOSED, begin lowering it. The tonneau cover rises and then the 5th bow follows. At that point stop it there. There will be a little switch upside down with a small metal tang/arm, close to the rams. I think it's the only switch in the area.

The WIS instructions say:
1. Run the soft top to closed position (raised) and raise 5th bow
2. Cut the cable ties, use a knife to cut the inner cable tie. Pull wiring harness through hole in body.
3. Run the soft top to half open position and fit soft top support. (Use a support like a length of wood or similar, there isn't an actual support part number).
4. Pull up the wiring harness and cut the upper cable tie.
5. Remove micro switch retaining bolt to remove switch.

I'd recommend you search for the WIS online so you can see the images the instructions come with. It's handy to have the WIS anyway.
