Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Very different I'm afraid.

The TTiD has different internals.

Some of the differences (but not all)

DTH to DTR differnence....

DTR is 16.5:1 down from 17.5:1
Different engine block (stronger, better cooling)
Different con rods (forged not cast)
Reinforced Gudeon pins (30mm as opposed to 26mm)
Big ends are "Split end caps" from one forging
Different pistons (larger gudgeon pin holes and longer, better cooling and oil management)
Different head (post sizes changed)
Different camshaft housing
Different inlet valves (5mm stems down from 6mm)
Different exhaust valves (5mm stems down from 6mm, and smaller valves)
Different valve springs
Different oil sump (including extra baffling)
Different oil pump
Different Turbo's (obviously, and a wastegate)
Different inlet (revised for better swirl)
Different EGR (for better cooling)
Different Swirl flaps
Different oil filter and housing
Different oil cooler (more efficient)
Different alternator pulley (free wheel)
Different oil trap
Different glow plugs
Different Injectors
Different thermostat/housing (you can change just the thermostat)
A broadband oxygen sensor
Different radiator/fan system
Different several other bits too.

Bi-Turbo runs 2.0 bar boost as standard.

A lot of the Z19DTR bits are on the 2.0 derv insignia though.

Fiat Power Trains did a LOT of work making the TTid over just slapping on a smaller 'pre' turbo.

I'm guessing it's eaten a swirl flap or after many failed DPF regens the sump has filled with diesel.

It might be worth whipping it out and see what’s exactly wrong with it. I have a host of Ttid engine parts somewhere in the garage.

Aero TTid's were only ever 180bhp.

In the last year or teo, they also did 130bhp and 160bhp TTid's for Vector Sports, Linear and Arc models.
All the engines are the same though (A19DTR) for the later ones Euro5, and Z19DTR for the earlier Euro4 ones

So you reckon the 2011 160bhp will fit straight into 2008 180bhp?
Thank you for your time

Happy to help.

It doesn’t take long to whip engine and box out, let us know how you get on.
