Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Car Model: 9-3 Vector Sport TID
Hello all, i am the owner of a Saab 9-3 Sport Vector 2005 and i would like to know if there is a good specialized Saab garage in the area Romford, Essex. I brought the car yesterday and i really really like it, but for my peace of mind i would like to make a full check/diagnosis. The car drives well, engine sounds and pulls good (1.9 TID with 115k miles), transmission is smooth and fast (auto), but because i'm using it to travel long distances almost each weekend, i don't want to risk and do all necessary checks.

Many thanks

Big thanks to Lauren at Saabtec in Glossop for sorting out a long running problem that others couldn't. All that, a good price, a cup of tea, and good craic :D
Would heartily recommend and will be going back there for all my future needs, nice drive over the peaks too.

:D :D

:P Bit of a trek from Shropshire though even if they provide Jaffa cakes...

I'm looking for any well recommended Saab specialists in Shropshire.

They don't have a problem fitting bits I supply either which isn't the case gir many garages.
Spot on all round!

Thanks for the recommendation, I know exactly where they are too, just over 2 miles from my apartment :-)

Can anybody recommend a decent trustworthy and hopefully inexpensive garage in Devon....noted the one in Exeter thanks.
Also best supplier for parts...I need a new set shocks, arm and brake discs and pads at front....just bought my Saab with a clean slate mot from halfords....counts for nothing obviously!!! So annoyed!! And was not expecting to be paying out another £650 on buying the car! (Current quote)
Thanks in advance for any advice or comforting words.

Bit slow on the uptake with this one, but my car is currently with SaabMaster in Torquay - its a one man band but Andy is a former Saab master technician and worked at St Davids Saab in Exeter for many years. Really knowledgeable bloke with a real passion for the cars

Can I say a HUGE thank you to Ian Allan Motors
Sand Hills Lane
Virginia Water.

Excellent service. They managed to fit my car in for Trailing Arm bushes and two tyres at about 30 minutes notice.
Yes I could have done the job ut it would have taken days to get it right.

Can I recommend North East Saab Specialist, Sunderland.

http://sunderland-tyne-and-wear.cylex-u ... 19849.html
North East Saab Specialist, 309 Ryhope Road, SR2 0NJ, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear
0191 521 3200

All done by one chap (John), I was very pleased with the service. Top notch work, never overcharged (to the contrary!). He was also happily looking after my wife's Volvo.
It's not always easy to get hold of him on the phone but keep trying, it's worth it.

We have move just moved to Bolton, so I will check out Motoron in Chorley, thank you!

For the Sheffield area I have used Phil Smith on East Coast Road on a number of occasions and just recently he solved my boot-lid electrical problem over the 'phone because he was short-staffed.

Should add my mates place here. He is in Thurnscoe in South Yorkshire and runs Church Hall Garage there. He's a good all rounder but spent several years at Swain and Jones Saab in Farnham so knows the cars well. Also builds and runs racing lawnmowers with me.
Aside from Saab he's spent several years at main dealers for Peugeot and VAG plus several years at smaller independents like the one he now owns. He was the master tech at Peugeot for several years.

I use NDS Saab in NW London, very small family run business (literally, the smallest back-of-house garage you've ever seen), lovely folks, http://www.nds-saab.co.uk/

Has anyone had recent experience of Bond Street Service in Leicester? I'm only a few miles away, and I'm looking for a garage to look after my 9-5 Aero. I'm pondering trying Bond Street, or making the trip up to Nottingham Saab. Any comments welcome!

If anyone needs a good Saab mechanic in the Berks Hants Oxon area and is mourning the loss of CJ Saab Services in Peppard drop me a PM as I know a good mechanic in the area who is starting Saab specific mobile work. (I'm definitely NOT advertising my own skills as I barely know the right end of a spanner!)

Please keep going with Keithiopia's idea. You above are really lucky to know of a trusted specialist in your area. I (and no doubt many others) don't, and have to rely on the posts of you good people to help sort out problems. I don't often post because the problems I experience usually already have a solution on here, but a list of trustworthy garages would be invaluable to those of us who aren't that experienced with the oily/leccy bits.

Ouch. When I posted earlier, I'd just glanced at this topic, having now had a good look I can see how many useful contacts there are on the map. Unfortunately, from my point of view, there seems to be no recommendations between Leeds and Scotland..... Anybody know anywhere in North Yorkshire or the North East?
