Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Instead of garden talk, it would be good to have a list of garages etc. recommended by the good folk here who use them by area.
Possible sticky?

Tommo says:
there are two good indies in my area that I know of.

1. APL Saab Specialists, Unit 1 & 2 Marquis Street, Kirkham, Preston, Lancs, PR4 2HY. tel/fax 01772 685588, http://www.aplsaab.co.uk

2. Motoron, Saab specialists, Botony Brew, Chorley, Lancs,PR6 0JW, tel 01257 265360

Edit: you can also try this map view of garages if you don't want to read through the thread.

A really professional service. Extensive knowledge and real attention to detail. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommeding them to anyone and I will always use them in the future. Quite expensive.

Four.
The one I use - Howe Engineering, Hare Street, near Buntingford. Very knowledgeable and friendly Saab (and Land Rover) specialist who know a lot about the older Saabs (at least back to the 99) as well as the latest ones. They do LPG conversions too.

Saab of Hertford are in Hertfordshire too, but I've never used them so don't know what they're like. I did visit once and had a look around their used cars but that's all.

Two-Stroke moved from Hatfield to Bassingbourn a couple of years ago.

A & D Motors - Saab Specialist - off Lyde Road, Yeovil. Outstanding service. Also not afraid to admit that he doesn't know absolutely everything about Saabs, especially the newer models, and will root around to get the solutions. Has a very tasty Sonett III and a 96 V4 convertible (that needs a custom-designed and built roof if anyone on here knows how to do it!).

Perry & Prowse - Taunton and Exeter. Haven't used them but they seem like knowledgeable chaps (ex-Bishops, Taunton's main dealer until a few years ago when Mr Bishop retired) and have a good reputation around here. They also buy and sell used Saabs.

A lot of the Guys here are very happy with Jamsaab.

I can also highly recommend William Morgan Saab.2a Highbury Rd,Bedminster,BS3 5NT.

A bit of a place to find(Down a narrow alley way,so narrow you'd think it wasn't possible to get a Saab down there),but when you do,the work is done well.....and very cheap.

All my SAABs have been very well looked after by Aeromotive. They're perdominantly a SAAB specialist with a great range of parts available, but the also do track cars and other classics.

Seems like Huddersfield's well served for Saab independents.

Bought my 9-5 estate from John Wood at JG Motors in Huddersfield - very helpful & knowledgeable guy, chucked in a few extras for me too.

Not fair is it?
Does anyone know if there are any good rolling road/tuning places in the Coventry/Rugby area?
