Forum rules

When you put a new thread up in the Workshop please put your car's year and model in the post subject/thread title, along with just a brief indicator of the problem.

Car Year - Car Model: Brief description of issue. EXAMPLE- 1999 9-3. Problems starting when hot.

For Tech II issues or help requests please state the following in your title ''Tech 2 help required - state issue and your location ''.

Please also add as much information as you can about the problem, to your post.

This will help us to help you, without having to ask basic details such as what car you have.

Threads with non-compliant titles will be moved to The Pit Lane (in which no replies can be posted, but the OP can edit the thread - upon which the thread will be released to the workshop forum, note compliant threads will be moved back when the mod/admin team next visit the Pit Lane. if your thread has been sat in the Pit Lane for 24hrs+ after editing, pm Tech II to request release)

Nb. Generic thread titles for truly generic issues that genuinely are not model or variant specific (such as "how do I change the spring in an forge wastegate actuator") are acceptable

**The first 5 posts for new users require individual moderator approval (which they will only get it if they are in line the rules of the forum). Please be patient and allow time for that to happen, and avoid duplicate postings.**

Well so much for fixing it, a week later and it has returned to failure state!

Interestingly if i unplug the oxygen sensors turn it on it returns to normal. Then turn off and plug in the sensors again and it is back to normal. There is a misfire every so often on acceleration, like it is all cut for a second then it carries on.
I have changed the DI pack and the ECU with my spares and it is still the same.
I also have the engine and gearbox warming lamps on now.

Where are the fault codes stored?
What unit activates the warning lights?

I guess i need to find someone with a Tech 2 so then can clear all the faults and codes as there is a lot stored i guess from the engine change. then to have a look at the new ones that come up.

Who in South Hampshire has a Tech 2?

You'll have to read the Tech 2 thread to find someone close to you.

It sounds to me as though you have a short on either the lambda sensors or their wiring, including potentially the connection to the ECU. Are the Lambda sensors proper bosch ones or aftermarket. If they are aftermarket, bin them, especially if there are wire connections on there

Think again about what you have changed, and what is original.

You can clear engine codes with any generic OBD reader.

I have used a "D900" for over 10 years, available on ebay, on many cars, including Saabs

No not touching the live , the bolt was just loose. I think it must have been done up finger tight when i was putting the wiring loom and bracketry back in, as you do when lining it all up, then i must have missed it when i did them all up with the socket. Then it had obviously worked itself even more loose.

Of course it meant that a lot of the engine bits were not earthing correctly and maybe even feeding back through other bits to find the earth. It happened to be that when ever i moved the Lambda sensor connectors it moved the earth wire as they join up through the same part of the loom.
