New barn roof forces sale

Rare opportunity to buy my Saab 99EMS project. Tax expired 28/2/82 and not been on the road since. Will need complete restoration/recommissioning but the car is complete and 100% original with incredibly sound rust free chassis. Interior and factory vinyl roof are superb (was stored in a dark garage for decades). Soccerballs, Sport steering wheel etc.

There is damage to the OSF wing (NOS replacement supplied) and there is rust on the top of the doors and front of bonnet. Car came without keys but I will supply a complete lock set comprised of ignition, doors, boot and glove compartment. V5c in my name showing just one previous owner. Front spoiler damaged but excellent (correct) replacement supplied

The sum of the parts exceeds the asking price of £3.000 but I would really like this car to be restored so please don't ask if I'd break it.

A few statistics:

Registration: TRX 743S Currently on SORN

Supplied new by Haymill Motors, Beaconsfield Rd. Farnham Common, Bucks.

Mileage: 31.758 - believed to be genuine as the car was only on the road for 4 years

Built in Trolhattan, chassis number 99771018560

Colour code: SK 02 B (Bronze on V5c)

Still haven't worked out how to post pictures on here but happy to email to anyone who is interested. Alternatively, the car can be viewed in Suffolk, IP17 on weekends by prior arrangement, just drop me a PM.

Thank you for reading all this

Peter

Thank you Mal, much appreciated.

For the record, the car has a set of 5 Soccerball wheels. The 2 x Incas on the pics were put on to move the car about.

Lovely car.

What I don't get is why someone would take it off the road in 1982 and then just leave it?

Is the engine seized or does it move freely?

Ian

Hi Ian, I've been asking myself the same question! One possibility is that post the damage to the front wing (accident? Drivers fault?) the owner lost confidence and locked the car in the garage and never got round to sorting it. I found a name on a Nat-West paying in book in the glove compartment but drew a blank trying to locate the individual. Sadly the DVLA equally were not able to help with the history of this car as it pre-dates their digital records.

The engine does not turn over nor have I tried to do so. All I've done so far is remove the plugs and pour some light oil down the barrels and left it. I believe this car is best left as found until someone is ready to take it on as a whole.

What I have done is slowly collect some key items which will be needed for it to be restored, like a rare new old stock front wing (£350!!) a virtually new correct spoiler (without the cut-out for the oil cooler on the later 99T's), a complete lock set etc.

All the best,

Peter

Good morning Alex, the fuel tank is steel, not plastic. (You have PM)

Willing to consider offers around £2.750 for this car. If it doesn't sell in the next few weeks I'll moth-ball it and let it quietly appreciate in value...

OK Chaps & Chapesses, this is it: new roof is on the barn and the very big bloke that supplied it wants his money!

So, one final reduction down to £2.500 and if no takers she gets broken and I make a load of money in spare parts...

This may well be your last chance to own an original, unmolested 99EMS.
