"Erik" - my 96 stroker - passed his MoT on Friday morning with no problems

. He'd been off the road for several months whilst I cleared up last year's advisories - CV boots and brake hoses - and fixed a "small" hole under the driver's seat. Had to remove/replace a section of the "top hat" for that. Took the opportunity to refurbish the front suspension and fit all-new suspension bushes, new front springs, refurbished calipers, new b/j and boots and generally give the area a good tidy up. Took longer than I thought - 3 months to do one side and one day to do the other! - but what with the cold winter and working full time I just did it in short bursts when I felt like it. There wasn't any pressure until the MoT deadline got closer

. many thanks to my neighbour, Mike, for his excellent welding and all the support he gave me. We've been renovating his mid-60s Sunbeam Alpine Mk III in parallel, so the effort has been shared. That's coming on well - we fitted the engine/gearbox last weekend - he's now getting ready to paint it then it'll be off down to the local garage (Saab specialist) for its MoT.
