seems to have frosted headlight glass and no wipers, still looks nice, but as you say for a price strange wording to me,dealer selling but trade sale, but top dollar price, wish I was clever enough to understand.

This one has been discussed on another thread but yes very optimistic, I think I would be expecting very close to concours for that price.

Probably hoping for a sale on the back of the recent Top Gear feature.

Looks nice on the outside but the engine bay and interior is shabby. It just looks like a respray on a £2500 turbo to me. The lack of care under the bonet would also make you think about how much has been payed to the rest of the mechanicals.

You could buy a Concours level for that...and still have a few grand left over. It aint worth the money.

I recognise the car, or to be more exact the number plate, from my time as SOC registrar.

Looks like a cosmetic blow over.
As well as the wiper arms, the windscreen looks too dark (should be only slightly tinted green), the side trims are missing and it looks like the wheel arch trims are missing as well.

Engine bay is, as mentioned, poor and some of the pipes are not set up correctly, especially the fuel pipes to the injectors which shoud run over the top. Putting them on this way makes them prone to cracking due to stress.

Did black cars ever some with a 5 speed box?

I bow to Willingtons knowledge and pricing of this marque

I think any spot on concours car can be worth that kind of money, just due to the time and money needed to get it to that level. I bet Dave has spent a far bit with Jamsaab taking his very good example to a high level. And it just proves that even a very good car can have a bit of rust hidden away.
You really need the car to have been totally nut and bolt rebuilt for that money. I think I will stick with my £900 99T rally car!

Ace Saab in Acton used to sell new 99T's with a 5 speed box, but I don't think they left the factor like that.

Acton? My sticker says Kensington, did they have another branch?

Fiche doesn't show a specific 5 speed for the turbo, but it shows the turbo version of the dipstick as available so maybe all 5 speeds at that time were the same? However, I do have a scan of an unknown manual page that shows 5 speed ratios for 99T...

My 99T has a 5speed box, but probably fitted by the previous owner. Nutcase, I'd be interested to know the ratios if easily available. Oh, and fitted the front wheel bearings yesterday...fun... One less noise but picked-up another, oddly enough, a rattle from the gear stick!

All 99 Turbos (2 or 3 door) had 4 speed boxes from the factory, never 5 speed.

Stop finding rattles

What's the details on the top of your box, where the clutch slave goes, might have a plate on it with a number starting GM...... or might be just numbers stamped on it instead if it's older.

The Saab manuals say different.

Whatever the manuals say, for the UK there were no 5-speed 99 turbos, Dave. I believe they did come with 5 speed box (and PAS) in some LHD markets. Lots of them were given early 900 5-speeds in the early 80s, but as you know those early 5-speed boxes are made out of soft fudge and not as strong as the turbo 4-speeder!

UK spec cars only offered with 4 speed box. 5 speed option on 1980 models for other markets.
I think the UK spec cars were built down to a price hence no sunroof either (on 2 doors)
They needed to be quite a bit cheaper than a 900 turbo or they wouldn't have sold any!

I know that.......Rob stated..... 'All 99 Turbos (2 or 3 door) had 4 speed boxes from the factory, never 5 speed.' He never mentioned any specific market.
