How dead is PNF108W? My Dad owned it in the early 90s - it formed my love of cars! Would love to hear about it's history since then. Drop me a PM if you are the owner!!

"XYE 782T - black 3dr - 132k - very much alive and boosting "

Should read

"XYE 782T - black 3dr - 134k - alive and boosting but a little tired and emotional** after 300 miles around North Wales this weekend".

Will be coming off the road in September for some TLC.

**Seriously the only stress was finding somewhere selling super-unleaded at 21:00 on a Saturday night (not near Dolgellau you can't).

I can confirm that B4391 is more fun in a 1978 SAAB 99 than a 2005 93 2.0T AERO or a 2009 XC60

Hey! You will be happy to know that PNF108w is sitting on my drive! It is very not dead but currently sleeping.

It had a hard life after you owned it. I think i'm the 8th owner. I bought it about 6 years ago very non running (warped head and no timing chain) and with lots of rust.
Got it back on the road for a year or so but had a lot of fueling/running issues and then ran out of money and time when i bought a house.

It currently has a rebuilt engine and box, no rust holes and just needs some brakes to get it MOT'd (and some new paint to make it look pretty again). Hoping it will be back on the road in the next few months after i get a garage built!

This was it last year. It looks shiney when wet but very ratty when dry!. Proper wheels are in the shed. Cant find any photos that show the number plate for you!

Thanks Tomarse! That's tremendous! I remember working on it replacing the Turbo and head gasket in the freezing cold - We went all over in it doing the SOC rallys. Such a great car and so quick - does it still have the water injection glow light my dad fitted?? He competed it in 2 night event road rallys - he placed 2nd overall and 1st in group in it, beating many M3s and Audis.. he says he would have won if he'd have fitted a rear handbreak.

So now you can say it has real racing pedigree - it was mentioned in Motoring News if memory serves.

Glad to hear it's to make a return to the road!

So is your dad the reason why it was so tired when i got it? ;)

I've done that on this car too!. That head is now ported somewhat and the turbo was dead when i got it so has now been replaced with a c900 water cooled one.

I had lots of fun getting the WI to work - but finally did (minus the wierd valve between the turbo inlet/outlet). Where were you 5 years ago when we were having trouble trying to work out how it worked! Which lamp do you mean? It did have one in the dash when i got it but it never did anything. It now has a couple of LED's to show what the W.I is doing.

We should probably carry this on over PM! If you have any old photos or records i'd love copies! I can give you far too many of the car in bits during my ownership. There used to be a project thread over on Saab central but i think its dissapeared now.

Hi Tom, would love to but as I'm a newby on this site i'm not able to PM :( PM me your email and i'll drop you a note. Mentioned it to my dad today and he wants to come and have a look at the old motor (he's in Preston) - but luckily he wasn't the reason it was knackered - it was a concourse when he sold it to a mate of his!

Can anyone hear coughing and spluttering? It's my black 2 door 99T (HJM360W) coming back to life after a 12 year slumber... Currently on SORN but hope to drag it to the MOT station soon and tax it from December 1st (it's getting a bit nippy on the bike...) Will keep you posted.

Hello Turbo people, have you spotted the 99T on ebay? Looks like it's well worth saving but West Yorkshire is a bit far for me to go and collect...

... and tax and insurance... I'm poor but I'm happy! Strange thing though, car cuts out when turning sharp left! I tried to only turn right but didn't get very far... anyone ever had such a problem?

"car cuts out when turning sharp left"...

on mine two things happen when turning sharp left:

Strong smell of petrol*
I spill my G&T

*I always assumed this was a fuel tank filler/breather thing - but it could also be something up at the pointy end...

I heard of a Black 99t through the grapevine yesterday that has been sympathetically restored to a "very good standard" and might be for sale. I dont know if its a 2 door or a 3.

Send me a PM If you are interested, and I will try to get some contact details.
