The ignition barrel assembly on my 1978 99T has a switch attached:

Which was plugged into this connector in the wiring loom. The yellow connector used to piggy back off the yellow cable to the ign switch:

I don't seem to have the exact correct wiring diagram for this car and cannot find it in the ones i do have.

Can anybody tell me what this switch does and where the red wire goes to?

I am assuming it is either a key inserted switch or some sort of position switch which turns something on or off. The car did have an 80s alarm/immobiliser so there is a possibility it is part of this. I have unpicked the rest of the alarm and the car will start OK right now - though it is not using any of the factory K-jet wiring.

I have swapped the gear change assembly over for a 5 speed which doesn't have the switch. I need to work out if i need to bypass this in some way to get things working properly!
