Good evening everybody.

As above, does anybody have a paint code for the above>?

It looks as if its a pale or duck-egg blue, through the rust and oil, rather than the expected dark red.

I would also appreciate a recommendation on a brand and type of paint to use; I intend to brush it on.

TIA S

Bit tongue in cheek but maybe army colours? MOD Recon Blue Green? Was thinking of this once I get mine out way in the future but it would show up any leaks easy enough :)

I remembered seeing this thread years ago. While it is largely about the 96 it mentions the 99 too and there may be some commonality between the 99 and 900. Worth a look, anyway.

I HAVE USED SMOOTHRITE,FOR DONKEYS YEARS NOW. IT IS VERY RESILIENT,READILY AVAILABLE,AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WITHSTANDS THE HEAT,AND ENGINE FLUIDS,AND EASY TO WORK WITH,GIVING A GOOD FINISH APPLIED BY A QUALITY BRUSH.SEVERAL COATS WILL BE REQUIRED,IDEALLY ONE A DAY,IN THE COLD AMBIENT WEATHER.
HOWEVER,YOU ARE PROBABLY THINKING THEY DON'T DO YOUR PARTICULAR ENGINE COLOUR?

NO,THEY DIDN'T DO MINE EITHER,SO I MIXED IT UP MYSELF,WITH EXPERIMENTATION.BOTH ON THE 99 TURBO AND THE V4.
THE COMPLETE V4 ENGINE BAY AND UNDERSIDE OF THE BONNET,WAS APPLIED VIA SPRAYGUN HVLP,WITH THE MIXED SMOOTHRITE LET DOWN ,WITH 50%CELLULOSE THINNERS.
THE 99 TURBO ROCKER COVER,WAS AGAIN SPRAYGUN APPLIED,WITH MIXED SMOOTHRITE.

Thankyou gents for those suggestions.

Birdie, is that an out of the tin Smoothrite Red? How close is it to the factory colour?

I've used that on brake calipers with good results.
