Morning all, anyone know the correct torque for the water pump cover on an H-engined 99? The cover in question is the one with connectors for three coolant hoses. I couldn't find a figure in the manual so I guessed at 18Nm (the figure given for the thermostat housing) but it leaked; I nipped it up a little more and it's still leaking...

Torque settings here. There is no specific torque setting for the pump housing so you should use the general settings for that size of screw (M8?). That suggests you have tightened it enough (if you tweaked it a bit above the 18Nm) so there is some other reason why it is leaking.

Thanks, that's the guide I used. The cover is new as is the gasket, and the mating surface was clean. I guess I will have to disassemble and investigate further, but I don't have time right now (moving house) and the car is booked in for its MOT on Monday morning -I can only hope it doesn't leak too much during the test!
