Can any of you wizards give me the bolt dimension for these blasted bolts!! Changing bushes and all rusted together so going to grind off the heads and refit new, anybody done the bushes in situ and is it feasible enough to do without too much swearing ?

That was probably not a good idea as many bolts were specially made for the job. Give Steve at Malbrads a ring or Martin at Jam Saab. The specialist will have used ones that are in good nick. Its hard enough getting unc/unf these days.

Could a good fastenings company have items in stock ? Surely dimensionally Saab never produced a trick size just for bottom bolts?

They did on the 96 upper ball joint bolts. I think these will be metric? on the c900 so you have a chance. Otherwise you can get bolts ordered in boxes of 100,but most fastner places only stock common metric sizes these days.

Jamsaab to the rescue again!! Otherwise I had planned to buy 14mm set bolts and have a machinist friend turn to size and new thread cut - buying off Jamsaab was so much more preferable.

Anything is possible with Saab fixings (ive heard people say sometimes Saab used what ever they could get there hands on or what was lying around to get the job done) resulting inn odd/different fixings from one car to another.....

You could do what I done and buy new bolts for rear axle from Saab before checking inn with martin first! :wall:

Well that was a challenging afternoon, wrestled with bush removing for a while and various methods of attempted bush bolt and sleeve removal, got it off and cobbled a bush fitting tool together to fit and finish job, thought I'm on a roll let's start other side - so much more challenging as nut on shock bolt is already rounded off!! Lots of release fluid on all rusty parts and home for a barb!!
