Hi Greg,

I think E12 is Buffalo Grey, I'm not sure about the type of seat.
My car is buffalo grey with the horseshoe style seats but I'm not near the car at the moment to check the number.
Surprising there doesn't appear to be anything on the web listing the difference trim numbers.
I believe that the letter is the colour and the number the style of seat.

So here's what I've found:
C - Red
E - Grey (Buffalo ?)
F - Blue
H - Light Grey (Dover ?)
J - Beige
K - Black (Rocky ?)

Thanks Webby

It looks a slightly brownish grey to me. It's definitely not one of the others you've listed.
Probably is original then. Seems odd that it's got blue carpets though.

That will be Buffalo Grey.
Are you sure the carpets are blue and not just faded grey ?
Of course it is possible that the interior trim was changed but they didn't bother changing the carpet.

That's hideous :argh:
Is it original or has the car had a colour change at some point in it's life ?

A bit more digging this evening has revealed this, code F44
So this is Atlantic Blue with (I think) horizon style cloth seats.

I also checked my car, it's E33, so Buffalo Grey with horseshoe style leather seats.

Still no idea what E12 is :?:

Scary, I know it was the 80s but it's hard to believe that a sane person would spec that colour interior with a red exterior.
Apart from the strange choice of interior it's a lovely looking car, I toyed with the idea of buying one back in the mid 90s when LHD imports were cheap (about 7 - 10K). I'm still kicking myself now that I didn't :wall:

I thought 'red and green should not be seen' was a nautical thing - it you can see both port and starboard navigation lights then a BIG ship is bearing down on you. But that 911 looks hideous, so maybe it's a style thing too...

Only if you're anchored. If you're making way you won't be there when the BIG ship gets there. Also a BIG ship will show three lights from the front. Red and green only is a sailing boat.

Unless you're sailing straight towards it

I guess your seats were trimmed by the dealer.
I don't think the horizon style leather seats were available as a factory option but were offered as a (slightly cheaper) dealer option.

Looks like a full database of trim codes would not be a simple matter, particularly when you throw dealer options into the mix

Quite true,

But it would be nice to have, I'll keep digging :)
