Fellow saabers,, Iv come to the conclusion that my 900 lpt Lucas is running rich.. for the past few months Iv noticed the gas smell from the exhaust is very strong and some what unpleasant when getting a whiff in the car whilst driving!! I think this is what killed my catalytic converter breaking it all up inside obviously the unburnt fuel,

After doing abit of research Iv learnt the later 900s had a non adjustable air mass meter which I'm suspecting will be my problem, pretty sure these later Lucas units have become rare and difficult to source (plenty of Bosch ones in the garage)!!

Failing this would I be right in thinking it will either be a faulty coolant temp sensor ( pretty sure there's 2 ) or my lambda sensor has gone bad sending a message to the ecu to throw more fuel in to combat the oxygen level!!

Anyone been down this path or had any similar experiences!! Feel free to shoot me down or are there any methods in my madness.. joe

They already are harder to find! Did see new ones available at one point, dunno if they still are, same as some Jaguar/Land Rover I believe.

Any of those faults will light up the Check Engine light, is yours lit? There are 2 temperature sensors but one is purely for the gauge
