Hi, does the 96 V4 have a front towing eye that I could put a rigid towing bar onto?, cheers.

NO!!!

The two "eyes" on the front corners of the inner wings are not strong enough to be towed on a bar, ask me how I know....

A bar would have to be clamped to one of the wishbones, but it would be far better to have ir recovered on a flat bed or trailer.

They are really "recovery eyes" for winching up onto a flat bed. So many people on modern cars use recovery eyes for towing other cars or people out of ditches etc, even on Defenders :roll:

For my 96 ('70, so no factory towing eyes) I've made brackets that bolt onto the bumper brackets, the M10 lifting eyes that screw into them sit just under the bumper over riders and work great for towing with a rope. I also made a detachable cross bar with an eye for towing with a rigid bar, I mainly use it for pushing the car onto the lift with a tractor if needed.
