Car Model: Saab 900i Convertible
Yesterday,
I Noted an unusual sound while the car was being turned on an incline
Drove off and again noted some unusual sound.
It seemed unusual using the clutch going thru the gears.
After a short distance while changing from 2ns to 3rd the front of the car seized and came to a stop.
Would not budge.
There was a small amount of play, rolling the car say 1 inch forward and backwards.
The brake disks were also turning so not the brakes.
Had the car lifted and brought to my home on a tilting flat back truck, the car was slid on blocks.
When I lifted the front of the car on 2 jacks, both wheels would turn in opposite directions.
Whe I put it back down on the ground it wont move again, only 1 inch.

Does any one have any advice on what I should check next or suggestions as to what it might be?

Many thanks

Not diagnosed yet.
It is still in gear.
And no matter what i do with the gear stick it stays in gear.

When on the ground, there is a small amount of play, rolling the car say 1 inch forward and backwards.

As Birdie says, sounds like the diff has locked up - so one wheel can't move independently of the other and turning one makes the other turn in the opposite direction.
