With 2 99s both with shells that I felt were too good to run in the winter there has been a space in the fleet for a tatty but useable 900 or 99. This turned up locally, and the drive home reminded me just how good a 900 is to drive.

it looks a lot better wet :-)

It's intercooled and has carlsson wheels on it, it drives very well, and in reality, like the 99s it too is probably too good to use as a winter car.
It's not a project, more a 'preserve and enjoy' car.

I'm aiming to put it back to a more standard look as it reminds me of a J reg LPT my dad had when my sister and I were growing up, and was the first Saab I ever drove.

First step is to get these cleaned up,

find centre caps for them, anyone? get them fitted, replace a shaky feeling inner driver, and enjoy :-)

Looks very nice (but then I'm rather partial to red three doors myself 8)
Is that a Carlsson grill it has fitted too ?

Let's see a photo? :-)
It appears to be a chrome grill that's been painted, I was going to try and replace it with an original grey one, which I think is correct?

Duh, I should have said 'Abbott' grill, rather than Carlsson.
Anyway, the Abbott version has a mesh grill with a body coloured frame. Can't seem to find a picture as it's no longer on their website.
Incidentally, my car (also a 900S LPT) has a chrome effect grill frame, with black bars, which I think is standard.

Very nice 8)

Chrome grill is correct for that model year.

Thanks for the advice on the grill chaps, that should mean it's simply a matter of taking the paint off of this one and seeing what condition the chrome is underneath :-)

I thought the car didn't look too bad, it wasn't until I went to visit dad and his pristine 2dr T16 Aero I realised just how shabby mine is (the photos make the J reg LPT look a lot better than it is)
I'm really enjoying it regardless.

Since i got the car a few weeks ago the clear indicator lenses, badly fitting headlight, and the colour coded grill have bugged me, fortunately the sun was shining and Ian Senior had the parts in stock

It's got it's face back :-)

Looking lots better already :D

The clear lenses do not suit some colours, red being one of them.

I do actually like them on white c900s :-)

No project Anjum, well not yet anyway! this summer will be mostly spent getting my workshop ready, and when it is my blue 99 will be the first to get some love.... maybe the 900 will pick up the odd upgrade and repair though... :D

I nearly forgot: when I got the 900 it was having an identity crisis, it had 'turbo' badges on the bonnet, and no 'SAAB' badge on the tailgate, so the correct 3 'SAAB' badges fitted ImageImage

just little things but they make me happier with it as a daily driver.
Any advice on a decent all round tyre for it's original wheels? and I think I'm right in saying it should be 185/65/15?

I know what you mean about the correct badges, father put new genuine turbo bonnet badges on back in 2000 and I can't now persuade him to put the correct Saab ones back on like you have done..I will get my own way at some point tho

Look forward to seeing the wheels refurbished!

Today dad came to visit in his beautiful 2dr T16 and I got the pleasure of driving his low mileage 900s, we also put my 3 Saabs onto the road for a group photo :-)

Good photo Ian, maybe the TTID might have looked out of place?
