Do some road rallies, NESCRO events were always good for fast flowing tests like mini stages. Stage rallying is very expensive and to be honest in the UK you need rain and ditch the brain to even keep up with an Escort. We were up against 210 BHP all steel pro built rs2000's with our strapping 140bhp in our class. Their tyre bill on an event was half what I paid for the car. When you drive a group 4 escort they are light years quicker than a Saab.
Blyton was good before it was turned into a trackday venue. It cost me £45 cash in hand to practice all day, and if I had a word with Howard he would let me drive round the dirt section and set up a 3rd gear long wide corner, which is what you really want as you don't get much chance to practice higher speed stuff, or basically get the confidence to do it with trees around you.
