An early 96, EXTREMELY NICE... You have a superb, rare, desireable model there. Good luck with her.

My first car was a '69 V4 so same dash and steering wheel. Would love to help put yours back on the road but I'm a bit far away to help living in Warwickshire.

I'm not involved but I know things are happening in the background. I'm sure the OP will be along to let us know what and when.

Hi All
Sorry for the lack of replies, been very busy sorting things out!
Had some great help from Simon who kindly came and had a look at it, and gave some superb help and advice.

So the car is now booked in for a "sympathetic restoration" starting in May, the engine is booked in for a rebuild, as it appears it might have had a cooling problem.

If anyone can recommend a gearbox company so I can have it rebuilt too, thanks in advance.

So all in all with a prevailing wind hopefully it should all be ship shape and shiny buy mid summer.

thanks again for all your invaluable advice, updated pics to follow...

Good afternoon all, whilst all has been quiet, Paul at Coltech classics is doing an amazing job (in my humble opinion) and we are nearing the finish line. I never dreamed this would be so good!
Thanks Paul

Sounds great. Let me know how you get on with the gearbox rebuild as some of the bearings are NLA. I've been looking into replacements, but I just haven't had the time.

Wow. What a transformation.

That's got to be putting a huge grin on your face each time you see it.

Looking good. Love the colour !!
1969 V4 Deluxe? Looks similar to my first V4, G reg( but was Silver Sand in colour)
Note it has acquired a 1972+ grille and headlights and a '72 boot lock.
Looking forward to seeing more pics of the restoration.

That's interesting, was it the 68 or 69 that had the slimmer head lamp surrounds? Great project, looks like it hadn't been plated up with horrid welds.

Didn,t think something was right with the grill. Your above pic shows the earlier type grill/headlight surround. My father had a green deluxe, same year with the pictured correct rounder headlight surrounds. The recent picture as Woody says has the later grill. It has been changed somewhere a long the line...

Yes definitely a '69 grille on it when bought. Still have the headlights and side grille from my first car mounted into a 69 front panel. I went to USA Front.
68 models had the chequered panel Sept67-Aug68. 1969 models started from Sept 68+ with the new front grille and other updates. My example was registered April 1969.
Best check will be the chassis no.
