Hi there

Where can I find stick on underbonnet insulation sheets to replace the originals on my car which long since rotted away.

Original spec would be awesome but if not a good third party product anyone can recommend.
Bonus points if you can find something I can get my hands on before next weekend :)

A friend managed to import some for me, it turned up as a surprise on Thursday.

Not 100% sure about the foiled look but it's growing on me.

I have asked him if he can get more. He said he will check the price but he thinks the section I had which was about a square meter was about £25 delivered so not cheap.

The section I had was big enough to do what I did plus some spare but obviously a 900's bonnet is that bit longer so you would probably use all of it.

thanks for the response Drjeep....

£25 well not to bad then you would have to buy some strong glue for the fixing or was the stuff self sticking....

Don't use anything too heavy unless you put a bit more tension on the springs.
Small gust of wind or park slightly uphill and the bonnet smashes down onto the runners (or back of your head!)

This stuff is self adhesive and very sticky..you get one shot to get it on straight.

Yeh I did worry but it's not heavy unlike the dynamat I fitted to a fiat 500 to stop the drumming of the engine many years ago that ended up weighing more than the rest of the car. :o

CARE! When you first drive it and it gets quite warm you will find that the silver foil parts from the black "foam- like" material.
If it does not "short out "your unprotected battery terminals it will quite likely wrap around one of the fans (i.e.alternator or radiator.)
Don't ask me how I know!!!!
However the silver foil can be gently pulled off, by first heating with a hair drier( Not a heat gun.) and peeling back.
Fortunately the thick black backing does stay in place or at least it does on a N/A car, cannot say for a Turbo though.
The black backing alone does the job.

A good tip that.

I did check clearance to the terminals and have been keeping an eye on things to make sure it was staying stuck but didn't consider that the foil may lift from the foam.

I've had a couple of erm (cough) energetic runs home this week which tends to get the underbonnet temps up to pretty scary levels and so far it is all staying together, I'll keep an eye though.

I might also cover off the positive terminal of the battery as they do in modern cars. Not worried about it getting caught in the radiator fan as that is the other side of the rad on a 99t. The alternator is right up at the bulkhead so that should be out of reach as well.
