I've hurt my right foot - can't run and can't drive - what to do on a grey Saturday morning? Projects...

I tried fitting modern LED lamps to my SAAB 99. The cabin lamp replacements made a big difference and I’m keeping them. But not so for corner and dashboard lamps, in both cases the originals were very much better than the replacements, in part because of how cleverly the SAAB design team had optimised their components to make the most of the incandescent lamp characteristics.

I've written it up here (PDF, 8MB)

Oh, and the Bosch driving lamps are no longer just a cosmetic feature

Hope foot gets better soon.

I've fitted quite a few of these to many cars in our fleet, and find them to be equivalent or brighter than filament originals. Wired up side reversing lights to our c900, original filaments were a good addition, but the LED upgrade makes a marked difference.

Funny enough just last weekend I fitted a spare set of these to our 99 running lights, and found them to be much brighter than the filament bulbs.

Good to see that you've got the driving lamps working, David. Something that I never managed to fix!! A good reason to use the EXTRA switch!
