Once again, the amazing Etienne and his club are organising a big get-together in Huy. Here's the text of his latest blog on the subject:

BIG Saabhuy meeting 31/10/2010 !

Due to the success of 2007 event the city council of my hometown, Huy, allow me to organize a great Saab event on the historical centre of the town (usually a pedestrian area).

Hundreds of Saab are expected, there will be a Saab spares flea market area as well.

It will be biggest funniest and more crazy again this year, as the whole historic city centre will be reserved for Saab enthusiasts!

The meeting and the flea market are totally free of charges but based on first come first served (meeting will start at 9 AM, but you're welcome early, as the 250 first car will be better parked and will receive a little welcome pack)

This meeting will be held on Sunday 31st October, there no on site activity the Saturday. Nevertheless an evening meal will be organized the Saturday night (this will be obviously charged and must be booked.) Details and price will be follow shortly, but I can already tell you that payment will be make also in £ on an UK bank based account and by paypal for your easiness.

Welcome and enjoy Belgium beer and atmosphere!

These information will be available soon in many others language but meanwhile is up to you to translate in your national language and post it on you national forum!

http://eurosaabmeeting2010.skynetblogs.be/ [end of msg]

Looks like a good one to attend. If you want a hotel, B&B or campsite, best to get looking and booking, as it'll get more difficult. I think I might just go to this one - missed the last one due to a business trip. Anyone who knows Etienne will know that it'll be an excellent bash  .

Hi all,
Etienne asked us at South West Saab to help with the English side of organising this.
As David has already mentioned the actual event on the Sunday is a freebie.
Getting your own accommodation will be down to you. That way you can choose: hotel, camping etc as David suggests.
What Etienne wants us to do is take and look after the monies for the meal on the Saturday night.
Paypal is one option, but it costs, and we have an address that can be used but the easier way will be to pay by cash or by cheque to our branch account, then we will transfer the monies to Etienne in one move. Alex and I will issue receipts etc. When we know the price of the meals we will publish it here. For evening meal interest please send a pm.

Although we (SWS) are helping Etienne I want to add that this is a Saab Enthusiast event, you do not need to be part of a club.

Another great option for this event will be to convoy over to Belgium, like we did for the Classic 900 event to Paris.
"Probably" take the midday ferry from Dover and make our way to Huy all together.
We would love to get a Rally Plate made again and if anyone out there fancies sponsoring it then please PM me, otherwise it will be £10 for each plate paid by each car. (the plates do get cheaper the more you order). This we can sort out later when we know what interest is there.

So I'll be brave and start a list for those interested in the convoy itself.

I've already booked my hotel room in Huy for the Saturday night - very close to the city centre! As to "The Rosbifs Convoy", I've looked at Eurotunnel prices and it seems that, as it's one of the half term weeks, Friday travel costs are higher than for other weekdays. I'm thinking of taking a short break in Belgium, staying with friends near Brussels, so will probably travel across on the Thursday. We'll all drive down to Huy on Saturday (for the dinner and pre-event celebrations) and back to Brussels on Sunday evening. Back to UK mid-week after taking in some Belgian culture, which will include a few brewery visits  and the excellent motoring and aviation museums in Brussels.

Note: it's about 180 miles from Calais to Huy, whichever route you take (there are 3 recommended by Via Michelin)

Convoy to Huy, 30th October.
OK, Alex and I have starerd the ball rolling for those who would like to convoy across to Belgium.
At the moment, if you book quick enough, the train is as good a price as the ferry and is 2 hours quicker each way.
We would love to plan to meet everyone inside Eurotunnels grounds in the duty free shop/cafe. Then when everyone is there, drive together to the train, hoping that they let us stay together.

the chosen train time is:

Going out
(local time) Day/Overnight Fare | Folkestone to Calais | Saturday 30 October 2010
Boarding at 12.20 Train Departure time 12:50 Arrival time 14:25 Cost £29

our chosen return train is
(local time) Day/Overnight Fare | Calais to Folkestone | Sunday 31 October 2010
Check-in closes 20:20Departure time 20:50Arrival time 20:25 £29
but you can choose your own.

Heli-saaber - will be there already.
