Afternoon folks.
How many people would be interested in a trip over the Bealach Na Ba to Applecross?
It's a road I have been meaning to visit for a few years now.
Thought it could make a good meet!?

Driver over to Applecross. Stay overnight at the camp site, drive back the next day.

Maybe some time in the summer.
Thoughts?

It's a much better drive from Applecross towards Loch Carron. If you haven't done it before, the view can take your breath away!

But it needs to be a nice sunny day! :)

That's the one Will, it's a great drive. Bealach Na Ba (Pass of the cow) is the second highest pass in Scotland. I'm really tempted by this one, it must be well over forty years since I was that far up the west coast. I've got a lot on for the next few months (need to get the Ruby sorted) but if this happens in the latter part of the year I could be very interested.

Depending on when it is, we would be well up for this one. Did the Applecross run back in 2009 on a round Scotland camping tour, during the wettest September in history. The wigwam things at Applecross were a real blessing. Superb food in the village too.

August in the Highlands are you mad?!

Midgeorama and peeing rain absolutely guaranteed

April-May for the win.

Superb choice of run (did it three times in the 96 for the "For the Love of Cars" episode last year).
Could well be tempted back, depending on the date - here's a wee taster of the view from the top looking across to Skye and Raasay.

We may have Dad/Stepmum and Uncle/Aunt coming up in August on 2 separate visits, so we could be struggling for August.

May could be good, avoid the midges and tourists. Would LOVE to return to Applecross. Perhaps go to Plockton too, it is just fantastic! If we could do 2 nights even, that would be fab. It's just a very lovely area to explore and we could do BBQ's, a bit a music, classic old Battleship game and pack of cards... Happy Days!!

Last time we were there, it rained hard and the drive was a little hairy in places. What really struck me was, no shops anywhere - if I remember rightly, but, there was a snack van and it sold Wild Boar burgers!? Eh! In the middle of literally nowhere, and they wanted to serve up something rather special. We have photos somewhere. We got home and happened to tell my old work colleague, the late Bob Duguid and his lovely wife Janet. It turns out, Janet use to live at no. 7, near the pub in Applecross! She hadn't been there for many years, but what a small world.

Anyhoo, would love to visit :)

Wasn't really thinking of midges. As they don't really like my blood haha.

Ok May sounds good to me. I don't actually have anything on that month. Other than my birthday.
2 nights could be a good old laugh as well.

I'd be up for this! Love that road. I've camped out in October up there (in a storm) and it was surprisingly pleasant. The campsite is quite sheltered though!

Sweet :)

Few dates we can look into for May. How about Saturday 30th April, until Monday 2nd May? Or, 6-8 or 7-9 May?

Applecross Wigwams: http://applecross.uk.com/campsite/bookingforms.htm
Wigwams: £45.00/night (max. 2 adults) per wigwam
Camping: £7.00/adult/night. Electric hookup £4.50/night/tent if required

Dogs welcome.

No telephone signal, anyone got walkie talkies?

Although being that close to the meet at your place I might need to skip it. Work may take a dim view of taking 2 weekends so close together haha.

So the 7-9 could be better actually. I could prob swing those 2 sets of weekends haha.

Hi there y'all,

I would be very very interested in this indeed, of course, it just depends when, and, as usual, getting enough time off work!!!! I'll try and keep an eye on this thread  :corn:

We have just purchased ourselves a Portafold like the one below, so if I can find a towbar for the 95 V4 in time, we'll bring that along - otherwise it'll be the modern 93 doing the towing.
