Hope you are well mate.

My car is in the garage with engine and gearbox out.....boo hoo.
The box started whining like a cat with its tail stuck in a gate.

Good news is that I have a a refurbed box ready to go, under my work bench. Yee hah.

The whole caboodle should be going back into the car on Monday.
I spent the last couple of days de-greasing and painting the engine bay.

If I have any insurmountable issues after the re-fit, I'll get the ol' MGB out of hibernation, and come down in her.
She's always laid up for the winter, but since she finally reached her 40th birthday in 2018, and it costs nowt to tax her now, she is officially on the road.

I have a clutch problem.
It's a standard SACHS clutch.

I looked at Malbrad's site, but couldn't see them.
I then asked Steve, who said that he's had so much trouble with the SACHS clutches, that he doesn't stock the linings any more.
Since it has never given me any issues, his advice was "leave well alone", ie if it aint broke, don't fix it!

However, I wanted to at least look at it, if for no other reason than to know if I had one of those SACHS linings that have been riveted round the wrong way.
Ahem, well it is one of the bad uns, sigh...and though there is a lot of meat on the clutch plate itself, (I drive freewheel all the time, so only use the clutch to get the car moving), the rivets are very close to touching the flywheel. A couple of them are shiny. Lay a steel rule edge across the plate, and the rivets are pretty well level with the surface of the clutch lining.

Soooooo, since I can't get a new SACHS clutch lining from Malbrad, and it would take most of next week to get one from somewhere else, does anyone have a SACHS clutch lining, either new, or lightly used?
I'd either buy it from you, or replace it, when I can get a new one from somewhere else, apart from Malbrad.

it's a really big ask, but I really want to bring my car to the Angel meet, so I really would need by early in the coming week.

If anyone can help, let me know.

Andy

My wife and I are setting off shortly through gales and rain.
SAAB is not ready, so going in the Suzuki unfortunately. (Too wet and windy for the MGB convertible - old British convertibles don't seal very well...!)

Hopefully the weather'll be better tomorrow.

Have a good day, Andy. Weather tomorrow looks pretty fair - Chance of a shower in the morning but afternoon looks good. If you're travelling back on Monday it's going to be VERY windy, particularly in the afternoon.

My count was 58 ....or 58.5.

General concensus of opinion was that there were about 65 cars in attendance.... but difficult to track with cars moving beteen the two car parks.

58 is another record for this event after the 55 last year.

Great day Paul well done.
Really enjoyed it, even if my SAAB didn't make it.

A bit of confusion with 75% of the folks pitching up to the Angel car park, and the other 25% at the Angel Inn Car park, but still a great day, and we all met up in the end.
Engine's back in the car, should be mobile tomorrow with a nice shiny new gearbox!
Some photos below.

We suspected the tide would be up, but we still went had a look to see if we could go across to Lindisfarne, on the way home.....ahem, na!

Andy

Trip to Lindisfarne on the way home, cancelled!
